StevenDC
Okay so my legacy makes a real load squeaking noise when i turn the wheel all the way, found out while I had my friend turn it is the steering pump stops causing the belt to slip on the steering pump pulley. Another thing I noticed when changing my transmission oil was there a lot of oil around the rack and pinion seal or something may have leaked, weird I’ve noticed it haven’t noted well was my steering fluid stays at the same level hot or cold. Not sure where to begin with trying to fix this
Max Capacity
If you have never replaced that 14y/o belt, it may be a good time to do that. A lot of older cars would squeal when you turned the wheel that far. The racks have been known to leak, I had mine replaced years ago. I would tighten your belt a little and watch the fluid level. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
doctorbrody
Try tightening the belt, but be prepared to replace the power steering pump. I replaced mine recently with a NAPA unit after similar symptoms. It's a messy job but easy as long as you have some kind of vacuum bleeder. rougeben83
Check Belt, then pump, then steering rack...I've replaced the first two so far, I recently found a small leak in the rack (maybe why I still get the occasional shudder on full lock when it's cold).
