You won't know when updates are available, bring up the issues you are having and the dealer will check to see if an update is available for that concern. The 2018 head unit hardware supports WiFi communication (HU firmware support is unknown), but it appears that Subaru's "cloud" infrastructure necessary to support the WiFi functionality isn't yet operational.
