Also note in the pic, the JDM McIntosh radio is tuned into 80.0, which is impossible here.

I'd still *almost* consider purchasing the unit if it could plug right in. I don't listen to the radio, so that wouldn't matter. And its a goddamned McIntosh stereo.

I'm sorry for showing my ignorance here, but what do you mean by 'FM channel spacing?'
I think in Japan they use a slightly different chunk of spectrum for FM radio broadcasting. It only goes up to 89.9 MHz. That means a radio specific for Japan won't be able to receive channels 91.1 through 107.9 (i.e. you'd pick up a few PBS and religious channels if you used it in the US). They use 0.1 MHz channel spacing, while North America uses 0.2 MHz channel spacing, but that turns out not to be the problem. On broadcast AM, Japan uses 9 KHz channel spacing, beginning at 531 KHz and running up to 1602 KHz. I think the US uses 10 KHz spacing on broadcast AM, beginning at 540 KHz and ending at 1700 KHz.

I had forgotten that the Blitzen was offered in other colors besides red. and I hadn't heard that it was Automatic only. (I thought there was an AT/MT choice)

It looks like the 06 Touring wagon gets a black grille in the bottom center opening on the front bumper. The Sedan's is silver top and bottom, and only the side grilles are blacked out.

People, including me, have lamented at the lack of the McIntosh stereo availability in the US. McIntosh being an American-origin brand, and all...

I'd pay for the option of the black brushed console and McIntosh head unit, with a US-market tuner chip, especially if they would include something as simple as a LINE IN!

Can we say SOA is missing the boat on a high-margin option? How much would people pay for that McIntosh 13 speaker setup (with the Line In) over the bog-standard 6-disk without it? Especially with the non-replaceable nature of the USDM dash? The free-air sub in the rear sedan deck, or in the wagon cargo area would also be nice.

The McIntosh may look DIN, but it is not. There are all sorts of buttons around the face... it is simply made to look like a component, but is barely more replaceable than the US model. Excepting the fact that the single climate control is separate, and Subaru Japan sells a Double DIN opening RHD faceplate... Which we also don't get.

Along with the HIDs, blanked wagon roof rails, rear wiper for the Sedan, the native-design short bumpers, Aluminum control arms, HIDs, and Multiple special models (WR Limited, STI-Tuned, Blitzen, Spec B option for ALL GTs, 3.0R Legacy, 3.0R Spec B with 6MT... Should I keep going?)

The other markets have available things that would make the Legacy better competition in the US. IF only our Global economy were actually GLOBAL, we'd have access without having to kludge together grey imported parts at high cost.

SOA needs to just open up. The Japanese/ROW options should be available here. It would sell more cars. I know I would pony up more cash for some of these options... Options are margin. Customer choice is profit.
