wpmarky
Just pulled the trigger on LGT #4 last week, and couldn't be more thrilled. I've gone through 3 other cars because each one had something a lil different. Now at #4 I'm hoping to incorporate everything I wanted out of the others to hit my goal of decent track performance + a comfortable DD baby hauler. My history: Car #1) 08 Spec.b - Bought this car new in 09. It was my first Subaru, and first time modding my own car. Got it to stg.3 with an 18g, brembos, and RCE 9k coilovers. Tried almost every suspension part made for the car. Car #2) Bing's 05 LGT 5eat Wagon - Sold the Spec.b and got this wagon to prep for upcoming baby #1. Came with a similar power build (18g) and a car audio install I've only read about in magazines. Swapped my suspension over enjoyed a couple days at Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway. Track days made me miss the 6mt =\ Car #3) 05 5mt Sedan - Picked up a totalled car locally for its built motor. Swapped the motor over to my 5eat wagon, and sold all the other parts to recoup funds. Shell went to the junkyard Car #4 - 05 5MT Wagon (Praedet's car) - the main platform to combine all my parts Car #5 - 05 6mt Sedan (T3hFranz's car) - pulling the motor, turbo, and 6mt out of this car to put into my SWP wagon Powertrain IAG Closed deck motor built by Topshelf Performance in Portage, WI on 1/15/16 Manley forged pistons 99.55 + .05 Bore 8:5:1 compression King Subaru rod bearings King Subaru main bearings Subaru 10mm oil pump ARP 625+ head studs IAG bore and hone 99.75 GSC P-D S2 Cams 272/272 Bilet Ported heads (8500 RPM limit) Killer B oil pan Killer B oil pick up tube Killer B oil windage tray Mishimoto Oil Cooler 2011 STI 6MT Transmission STI R180 rear diff Spec.b driveshaft & axles DCCD Pro ACT HDSS stage 2 Clutch Whiteline shifter bushings TGV Deletes ID1000 injectors ID Fuel Rails Top feed fuel conversion AEM Fuel pump hardwired Custom fuel lines ran in parallel AEM FPR + Gauge IAG AOS Turbo/Intake/Exhaust/Cooling Rotate EFR 7163 .85 A/R AVO FMIC Tigwerks Twinscroll EL Headers Tigwerks Twinscroll Up pipe Tigwerks Twinscroll Downpipe Magnaflow CBE STI Red Intake Manifold TGV Deletes AEM 4 port EBCS AEM Intake Koyo Radiator Samco Radiator hoses Samco Boost lines Suspension Ohlin 7k/7k Coilovers Cusco Sway bars Cusco Underbody braces Cusco Front strut tower brace Wilwood 6pot/4pot front/rear brakes STI Brake booster Grimmspeed MBC Brace Spec.b front & rear control arms Whiteline Pitch Stop Whiteline steering bushings Worx Rear Sway Bar Bracket MSI Front/Rear Endlinks SuperPro control arm bushings Group N Motor Mounts Group N Transmission Mount SSR 17x9 w/ Continental slicks (track days) Gun Metal Rota Boost 17x8"/Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT 225/45R17XL (snow days) Enkei 18x8 w/ Falkien all seasons (winter days) SSR 18x8.5 w/ Neova AD08 (summer fun drive days) Work Emotion w/ Falkien summers (summer DD days) Audio Alpine HU ID 10” sub SEAS components fronts Polk coax rears DLS A4 and A5 Amps Exterior: 35% Tint All around Clear Bra Debadge EDM Rain Guards Retrofitted HID Projector (BMW) 3000K H3 HID Fog Lights OEM Mudflaps Rally Armour UR Mudflaps Rallitek SSI Stainless Skid Plate RBS SWP Grill Subaru OEM Trailer Hitch Edited March 26, 2019 by wpmarky

wpmarky
Yup the SWP 5mt wagon has been my unicorn, will try to treat it well. Full time job + weekend side business + 2 kids (1yo & 3yo) + wifey = not much time =\ most of the work will be done at midnight after kids & wifey are sleeping, or on a weekend afternoon while visiting the grandparents xD re: the dash - a dog got to it xD Forgot to add " replace dash" to my list. wpmarky
Adding pics so this thread isn't worthless: 1) Ohlin coils vs RCE t1 coils. Nice to have independent height adjustment again. 2) Alcon 6pot vs Brembo 4 pot (caliper just hanging for the pic, supported it better after:lol:) 3) Rear LGT rotor vs alcon front , Brembo front rotor vs Alcon 370mm front rotor, LGT front rotor vs Brembo front rotor. Been looking for another one as I liked mine so much. looking forward to see this build... Maybe when I go rotated after going 6mt? My initial thoughts on the hta68 vs my old 18g - I like how the 68 feels a bit more linear. Both turbos happened to be tuned by Shamar (Infamous) years ago so that gives it abit more fair comparison. From what I remember of the 18g on my spec.b is that it had more of a hit when the boost came on at 3500. The hta68 feels more progressively increasing, at least for my 4th gear freeway passing pull on CA91. Haven't tried the hta68 on the e85 tune yet, maybe next week after I finish with the CA registration stuff. I think the current tune is injector limited with 850's. I'd be curious to see the difference after adding in ID1000's.
WRX USA
What are your plans for the rear seat when you swap in the SpecB interior?
wpmarky
Will try to dissect the old upper spec.b rear seat's alcantara and insert it into the wagon rear seats. If that doesn't work, I'll just buy some alcantara to add in. I may need to do that (buy alcantara) anyways for the door inserts since no one sells door cards by themselves. Except for the guy I bought the seats from =\

wpmarky
Looks so good, thanks! The front seat swap wouldn't have been so bad if I knew you didn't have to take the leather off the foam =\ I literally sewed it back on using zip ties to replace the staple clip things. My front spec.b seats and rear bottom are currently in the old wagon, will try to swap them in this week. Where again did you get your alcantara? Yeah, I picked up a new driver seat bottom cover and I am not at all looking forward to replacing it. And I had the back seat completely reupholstered at a lock shop. From what he told me, who knows if it's true, there is only one source for real alcantara in the states but he didn't mention the name.
Rhitter
Alternatively leave the back seats alone for awhile. The hard(er) leather is easy to clean and kids are murder on interiors. My OBXT build
wpmarky
True, also considering that. The 2 car seats cover up all the alcantara anyways.

wpmarky
I'm hoping to get back on the track soon as the tune is ready. Thunderhill, Sonoma Raceway, and Laguna Seca are all on the radar for 2017.
tysparks81
Nice build thread, subbed as I can't wait for this one, sounds like you have enough parts to build two wagons, just keep one to haul around wife & kids, and one for just you. #LGTSTi is still cheaper and nicer then an equal year wrxsti Follow my 2007 Spec B. Kojak
Sub'd for unicorn porn. Congrats on the find. What wagon owner can say in his heart that he didn't want a white one? Know I did. It used to be Gulf Fabrics (http://www.gulffabrics.com/alcanta.htm) that were authorized Toray distributors. It looks like these guys can source it too, https://www.jpmsupplyco.com/collections/alcantara.
wpmarky
Bump from the dead - just bought a friend's car after he totaled it at the track, so that means this wagon's getting some upgrades! Here's what's on going on soon: STI 6MT swap w/ DCCD Closed deck IAG motor w/ Manley pistons and 272 cams EFR Twin Scroll 7163 turbo w/ IWG and EL headers Wilwood 6/4 piston F/R brakes SSR wheels w/ continental slicks (not sure tire specs yet) Can't wait to hit the track with these new bits. Totally gonna keep the carseats in the back during track day, just for added sleeper effect in the parking lot.
