M4rked1
Most of the parts came today! Reassembly is going to take considerably longer than the tear down since I go back to work on Monday. Stay tuned I will get her back together! http://i.imgur.com/opqLDdk.jpg
M4rked1
Decided the Vf40 had just a bit too much shaft play to put back on. 20k mi Vf46 is en route. http://i.imgur.com/MgQQyzZ.jpg Meanwhile the heads are back on, along with cams, valve covers and water pump. I am going to try to finish the timing belt and covers tonight.

M4rked1
Is there a specific order that works best for reinstalling the wiring harness/intake/manifold/hoses? I kind of just unhooked everything and it all came off in a big pile, and I would like to be more systematic putting it back together. My plan at the moment is to install all the hoses I can, then the intake manifold, then the wiring harness. Also, that timing belt was a pain with the drivers side cam sprockets being loaded. Max Capacity
Did you take the intake system off in one piece like this ? http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x40/92Si/DSCN4741.jpg All that is needed it new TGV gaskets. Make sure you tighten all the gas line clamps. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. M4rked1
Thanks, I got it together after a little trial and error . Now for the million dollar question, what is this and why can't I find where it goes: http://i.imgur.com/H3rcRgo.jpg
seanyb505
Pcv valve. Or at least part it. Should connect to a rear port on the turbo inlet. In this pic, follow the highlighted hose. There is a silver clamp near the top that is hidden by the other hoses. Your extra part should connect near the end of the highlighted hose there, and the inlet. If you bought a new pcv valve, it would have come with a new piece on that end I think.
M4rked1
The car has a Perrin inlet tube, does this eliminate this piece? I'm pretty sure it wasn't hooked up when I tore the car down.
Max Capacity
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x40/92Si/DSCN4750.jpg Is that it right behind that big harness in the right going into the top of the inlet tube ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. M4rked1
Is that it right behind that big harness in the right going into the top of the inlet tube ? Yeah, I think so, thanks for the picture, I'll have to see if I can hook mine up there.

You just need to pull the metal tab out of the electrical connector and put it in the wire harness to eliminate an error code. Be sure to tape the wire harness connector so the metal tab doesn't fall out.
M4rked1
Engine is totally assembled and new vf46 is installed, going to drop it in tonight. Plan is to start by Thursday night. http://i.imgur.com/PAfpmJZ.jpg

Be sure to tape the wire harness connector so the metal tab doesn't fall out. Just asking, instead of pulling the tab out, couldn't you just make a jumper cable ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). rhino6303
Just asking, instead of pulling the tab out, couldn't you just make a jumper cable ? You could do that but the tab isn't attached though and pulls out easily. It can be put back without issues.
M4rked1
Just about done. Need to crank with the fuel pump off to prime. I'm going to check the top banjo of the turbo to ensure oil flow. Then it's just install the intercooler and start her up! http://i.imgur.com/TW4CPYx.jpg

M4rked1
PSA, don't do this it sounds terrible, puts exhaust into the cabin and likely loses hp... Found the stock mufflers looked like this when I dropped them to swap in a different catback. http://i.imgur.com/QtTmT2q.jpg
