Brighton96
The manual calls for 8.3 Qts/7.9 Liters of Dex II or Dex II
wtdash
yes, you can use anything that is Dexron III compatible. Be AWARE that only 1/2 of the fluid is in the pan. The rest is in the Torque Converter/TC.
friedkin
are pan and tc seperate?
doublechaz
They are not separate as far as filling and level and such, but if you take the pan off and "drain" it, the TC will not drain on its own so you will have only to replace around half the total capacity to get back to full. Like all Auto Trans, don't over fill it. It will froth up, put air all through the internals, fail to clamp fully at the clutch packs slip and burn up. If you are trying to flush the entire system to get rid of old yucky fluid, you will have to take steps to drain the TC as well. There is probably something about how to do it around here, or in the Service Manual. I don't know off the top. Mine is 5MT.
