fahr_side
Be careful using the nipple on the compressor housing as that is where the pressure to operate the waste gate actuator comes from. If you tee into that line and it leaks you may not have any boost control. Another good strategy if you're using positive pressure actuators is to tap the up-pipe. Pressure in the header rises much faster than boost does during spool. Sent from a device using some software. I would probably have to use a spring at that point. I assume the exhaust pressures are several PSI at baseline in the UP. Do you know roughly what sort of pressures the up pipe and manifold see? I'm guessing those are roughly double compressor pressures for our cars.
fahr_side
Drive pressure depends on how large your turbine and exhaust housing are. In the usual 18G turbos you'll see around 1.5 to 1.8 times the discharge pressure in steady-state operation at higher boost pressures but well over 2x during fast spool. A VF-52 might be a little higher than that. I don't think pre-turbo pressure is that high in cruise. Remember the front O2 sensor is not accurate under pressure. You might see 1 or 2psi in low load, but it will ramp up very quickly when you stick your foot in it. Remember you'll need to use a hard pipe off the header, long enough to let the temps bleed off before using a length of flexible hose for articulation. A coil of hard pipe takes up less space. http://www.gothe24.com/WebRoot/Store22/Shops/62307369/519B/2537/D68D/EFC4/3AB9/C0A8/29BA/54A3/kuehlschlange-3.JPG Sent from a device using some software. Twinscroll, but each of the two runners on the header just before the uppipe see's a max of 1.8 bar. Virtually nothing when cruising. Have it permanently set up like it is in that picture but on the header not downpipe. Pretty crude but works perfectly. Coiled section is just there to reduce vibration fatigue and cool the temps down before going to a vac line. 2000 Legacy B4 RSK - SOLD 2006 Legacy BP5 GT Spec B wagon - Garage Thread 2011 VW T5 van 2.0L of turbo diesel awesomeness

The AMG S63: "AMG sports exhaust system with automatic exhaust flaps - Emotive and sporty performance or restrained and relaxing cruising: the S 63 AMG Coupé even has a choice of bespoke sounds. The AMG sports exhaust system meets individual driver requirements as it has automatic logic-controlled exhaust flaps in both rear silencers. When the transmission is in “C” (Controlled Efficiency) mode, the flaps remain closed in most situations, in which case the eight-cylinder biturbo engine’s sound is more understated. In “S” (Sport) and “M” (Manual) modes, the exhaust flaps open earlier and more spontaneously, especially if the driver prefers a dynamic driving style. The result is an even fuller, hallmark AMG emotive engine sound." pic thread build thread
