It seems like the sun shade that's doing it, there are other posts by I just don't have to the link right now. Even some outback had the issue. I believe, though not certain, that it's one or more of the mounting screws in the back half of the rail on the passenger side. Other than dropping the headliner, which I am not willing to do, there is nothing I can see being possible. The only solution I know of is the volume knob.
