Heffernan
Just to confirm but the front catalytic converter and headers are one single piece, right? I was searching on RockAuto and that seems to be the case, like I thought, but just wanted to make sure before buying. This is the unit I was going to buy. http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6350982&cc=1440445&jsn=
Perscitus
Seems like it, good price over @ rockauto too. Even QuirkParts can't beat it: FED-spec? http://www.quirkparts.com/subaru/outback/44620ab24a/2008-year/2-5i-trim/2-5l-h4-gas-engine/exhaust-system-cat/exhaust-components-scat/?part_name=catalytic-converter CALI spec? http://www.quirkparts.com/subaru/outback/44620ab24a/2008-year/2-5i-trim/2-5l-h4-gas-engine/exhaust-system-cat/exhaust-components-scat/?part_name=converter The cross-refs over @ RockAuto seem a bit odd, different Model Years or cars, potentially same engine, same headers. http://www.quirkparts.com/oe-subaru/44620aa740 http://www.quirkparts.com/oe-subaru/44620ab350 http://www.quirkparts.com/oe-subaru/44620ac750 Also odd that RockAuto mentions this as another cross-ref: http://www.quirkparts.com/oe-subaru/44620aa79a
GEE-OTTO
If they have the Walker version I would go with that one. Walker probably makes those for Doorman now that I think about so either is a good choice.
Heffernan
Trying to confirm if the P0420 code shows an issue with the front or rear cat.
GEE-OTTO
Before you replace the cat replace both the rear O2 sensor and the front AFR sensor first. Your second cat is merely an additional scrubber that isn't monitored by the ECU. If after those are replaced you still get P0420 its your cat. dgoodhue
More often than not its a failing O2 sensor that causes the P0420 code.

dgoodhue
I would just do the rear O2 first. If you have a scan tool, I would look at the rear O2 sensor values (even better if you can graph them).
