3.0R engine durability and known failures

Recommended Posts

Hello guys

I totally felt in love of the Legacy 3.0R with EZ30 engine.

But after many trouble with the VW 2.0L TDI engine with made in china oil pump failures http://www.subyclub.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dash2.gifhttp://www.subyclub.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dash2.gifhttp://www.subyclub.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dash2.gif I want to know all of it is possible on the EZ30 weakness ( even if there are not very important ) http://www.subyclub.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png

What are the best mileages for this engine and its gearbox / transmission ?

Thanks by advance,

From the research I did before I bought my 3.0, it sounds like this was one of the better engines ever made and was pretty bullet proof. The trans is the 5eat, similar to the GT. I see no reason either of them shouldn't go several hundred thousand miles with proper maintenance.

Well first road trip 100 km refull 100 km back home

8l for 100km at 110 km/h

But 10 km after the beginning I've got the engine and ESP light and cruse swith off with light on ...

For the price and 250 000 km and the engine pushing still strong what could I ask more lol

except which oil because after 100km the level was at the lowest mark ...

My 05 Outback just turned over 406,000kms. Apart from a bit of timing chain rattle it has no issues. I run Castrol 5W30 in the winter and 10W40 during the summer. Same as I use on my 05 LGT, which coincidentally is approaching 400,000kms too on the original motor.

Just lucky i guess.
