Markbo Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 After a new turbo and all the parts, then rebuilding heads and more upgrades I am in the midst of tuning. My computer mpg is higher than its ever been - admittedly I am driving very easy for the time being. I am consistently reading 30mpg+. BUT...when I buy gas and just do the math it is in the 18-19mpg range. That figure is known accurate because it is actual miles and actual gallons. Why is the OEM computer so far off and is there anything I can do to fix it?
keenster Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 theres a spot in the tuning part that adjust that. did you upgrade your injectors? tuners can fix that. you might want to check the tuning section.
spec.B Dream Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Larger injectors are the culprit. Check out http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=9530
Markbo Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Ah perfect....I'll address that in tuning down the road a bit then. Many thanks
BrianEarlSpilner Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Larger injectors for sure. The tuner has to scale the injectors based off the difference in size/output to get the ecu to dump the right amount of fuel. My reading is always in the 30-40 mpg range now and I leave it that way on purpose. If the Mrs. is with me and the mpg is up it looks like the LGT is a much more responsible choice. I typically only see 16-20 mpg depending on my exuberance.
Markbo Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I thought of that...problem is my wife's commute is a lot longer than mine and if it gets better mileage than the Avalon she might want to trade. I dont.
jj808 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I miss that little thing my old 05. Had great fun seeing if I could get it to read a 1 mpg.
