It's easier to sell a 2.5 liter engine than a 2.0 liter engine in the 'bigger is better' US consumer world. with the added displacement, thier is less need for a twin scroll setup. Probably saves money as well. I do agree though, seems like from a production standpoint, it'd be easier to just have one engine for everyone.
