tvsubaru
My 08 legacy has a small oil seep from the heads so I'm going to be putting new head gaskets (six star) on here in a few months. Is the valve adjustment procedure different on this year because of the vvt solenoid on the head. Second question, should I replace valve seals when I have the heads off? The car only has about 113,000 miles on it now. I think it would be a good idea to lap the valves, inspect the valve guides, and change the valve seals when the heads are off. Are the felpro valve seals any good? The factory ones are like $3-4 a piece. If they are that mutch better than aftermarket, I'll go that route; I just don't want to do the job twice. GEE-OTTO
Use 6 star for all the gaskets, the procedure is the same (loosen set screw, tighten/loosen adjustment screw), yes refresh heads if possible/needed.
tvsubaru
I'll look through my factory service manual on the valve adjustment procedure. I already have the six-star head gaskets. What is a good brand of valve stem seals? We sell the felpro set at my work, are they any good? I think ishino I'd the factory producer. I want the best aftermarket valve stem seals; I want to only do the job once.

tvsubaru
I already have a factory service manual for this car. Any thoughts on valve stem seals anyone?
GEE-OTTO
Felpro or whatever is OEM Subaru. stem seals dont typically fail on these engines they are replaced as part of a refresh. Make sure you seat and them in properly!
