triniexr
Would an STi ECU fit into an 05 Legacy? If it could, could I flash it with ECUTek.
Xenonk
you can just get an ECUTek and flash it.. There are differences, such as timing and other variables.. it's best off to get your stock ECU to get reflashed. for reference, 2005 STi UTECs work on 2005 GTs, it's just that you need to create new maps for the GT.. you shouldn't use STi maps on the GT due to some differences in timing and fuel profiles. If you would like to reflash your ECU, why not just reflash the one that came with the car? The STi ECU is not superior in any way.
Xenonk
He was thinking that the ECUTek doesnt have anything that could flash the 05 GT ECU, hence his roundabout. UTEC, AP, and ECUTek are your current easy plug-and-play choices for the 2005 GT. Keefe

There is no "best option" for everyone, just pro's and con's to both. Do a search on them, I promise you'll find a significant amount of information.
