SpecBamf41
Here is a picture. Taking with my phone of the oil drain tube from the outboard side of the car. My oil level was half way between the high and low holes on the stick of dip http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/09/27/3b919a13d4a36f9014af8c6500df7a59.jpg BNR18g on 93oct
discojon
That would appear to be the oil drain tube for the turbo
kzr750r1
Taken the oil feed off lately? The entire rotating assembly looks wet. Sure it's not coolant?
SpecBamf41
i did take off the feed line from the block to remove the filter. before the last oil change, its been over 3 thousand miles since and i was a half quart low, this is bullshit BNR18g on 93oct
SpecBamf41
That would appear to be the oil drain tube for the turbo gravity pulls leaks down, did i just blow your mind? plus the drain pipe is not a high pressure connection compared to the feed line..... Dispatch20
gravity pulls leaks down, did i just blow your mind? plus the drain pipe is not a high pressure connection compared to the feed line..... Engine vibration and air currents will often make oil travel in directions other than just down. Oil leaks make oil get everywhere...even upwards sometimes. Losing a 1/2 quart of oil over a 3000 mile period is not a lot of oil, at all. Most LGTs will burn that much internally without leaking any oil. With that said, the single picture you posted doesn't necessarily look like a drain flange leak (I just replaced my oil drain gasket due to a leak at that). If the oil isn't pooling onto the turbo bracket or axle area, then I doubt your perceived oil loss is due to an actual leak. As suggested above, this could be old residue from when you pulled off the oil feed 3k miles ago. Oil evaporates fairly slowly.
SpecBamf41
But i didnt ever touch that banjo bolt, only the one on the passenger side head. and my normally burns zero oil. i was only a qaurter low after 8 thousand ish miles my last oil change. i guess ill try and snug up that feed line on the center section. kzr750r1
If you removed the banjo bolt take a peek at that too. Are you sure both crush washers are in there? Air movement can cause oil to accumulate in strange ways.
SpecBamf41
Im pretty sure, I have worked on enough brake lines to always remember to check. you think the its leaking at the banjo bolt on the head and spraying to the turbo? kzr750r1
Sucks that the banjo bolt is PITA to get to, I know. You can always snug the feed line and check to see if that's it. This way ruling out possibilities. But as Dispatch said. Leaks can happen from the drain gasket. Air push things about a bit to make the suspect evidence inconclusive till you rule out culprits.
