dan_m
why not integrate the IC inside the bumper beam? heck we put a man on the moon we can design a state of the art skinless bumper/IC parmesan grater type gizmo... :D:D
al-gorithm
then what would the point of having a bumper beam at all be? It wouldn't be able to take any impact and that part of the beam would be covered by the cover anyways. Might as well put it above or below the beam or one big a$$ one to take advantage of the upper and lower openings.
dan_m
silly idea? The IC could theoretically be made strong enough to act as a bumper beam ( through the use of the right materials and sections ). The bumper skin would be made of something that would allow air to flow through. The main source of conflict remains the restrained space for the IC at the bumper beam location- a possible solution ( albeit expensive, untried, and physically difficult to implement ) would be to integrate the two functions into one. ....now go do it! :D

RobY
A bit off topic but have you guys ever considered builing an AIR to Water intercooler. I would pick one up if one were available. Cause it seems like the best way to acheive masive cooling capacity in a confined space with no bumper cuttage I am weary of even notching my bumper beam. The way lawsuits are now and the fact that alot of drivers are blind makes me weary. I dont wan't to be sued incase a crazy driver pulls out infront of me, not looking and gets tboned, a frame rail goes through the drivers door impaling the poor sap and I get sued a few weeks down the road cause they found out I had a modified bumper beam. This very incident ALMOST happened to me a few weeks ago. Luckily I was able to swere out of the way. I was dead center on the drivers side door before I cut left and missed the car by INCHES. If I did not do that my legacy traveling 45 mph would have probably killed the driver. Screwing with saftey features is like playing with fire. Screwing with saftey features is like playing with fire. figured someone would ask I can make one no problem. but the thing about air to water is that unless you use ICE water you will never get your air temps below ambient. Air to Air has the benefit of "wind chill" even if the chill is from 90 degree day and 80 deg temps from moving at X mph.. an air to water would need a large heat exchanger to be mouted up front to be efficient and a high flow pump Costs would be similar but for a daily i dont really reccomend it You COULD run your A/C through it but thats just a nightmare TDC Tunings LGT Forum Cobb, Perrin, APS, Invidia, Megan racing and MORE!! RobY
intresting... what are the performance sacrafices? I would be willing to pay for one if it offers consistent performance, with no bumper beam modification. It seems as if a water setup would be nearly impossible to heatsoak given a large enough reserve tank. Oh.... BEAUTIFUL welds BTW

BEAUTIFUL welds BTW quite the opposite heat soak happens FAST you would need a HUGE tank water retains alot of heat i make FMIC that need absolutely no trimming of the beam i dont know why people are having a hard time grasping that concept TDC Tunings LGT Forum Cobb, Perrin, APS, Invidia, Megan racing and MORE!! al-gorithm
It seems pretty tight around the foglights... did you need to cut anything out of the way or relocate? Can we still use the space in the wheel well on the passenger side for an IC spray?

Or are you only supplying a tune when you buy the turbo and FMIC? I think I have one more picture like that... women and headphones rock!!!
