petethapitbull
I'm coming up on 88k miles on my 06 legacy. I'm the second owner - bought the car around 75k, but i'm not sure if the first owner ever changed the differential fluid. Should I change it anyway? if so, which is the recommended fluid for it? What is the milage interval it should be changed at? Thanks in advance.
mr.hicksta
Yes, you should definitely change them. I would recommend using Subaru Extra-S for the trans and diff. Your local dealership may carry it and if they don't many of the vendors here can get it for you. As for the interval, I like to change mine every 30K or so. Max Capacity
What tranny 5mt or 5eat ? 5eat takes different fluid. Exrta-S is the best stuff for the front diff and rear diff or all diffs on mt cars. (mt=manual transmission) change is every 30,000 miles. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. CrowNaza86
For a 5EAT, F&R diff take extra-s or any 75W-90 fluid. Get 3qts worth. Center just shares the trans fluid. Agree 100% on the interval, every 30k is a cheap insurance to ensure it's running properly.
petethapitbull
It's an automatic (Non-turbo). 3qts would be enough for both F&R or 3qts for each? What website should I order it from? Thanks!
CrowNaza86
3qts is enough for both F&R. Read the manual or service guide for how much each takes.
