Reusing fuel line quick disconnects

I was attempting to reconnect my fuel lines to the rail last night after having the motor back in and i cannot get them to lock onto the rails. I used a proper tool to remove them but it seems as though the quick disconnect "ears" are not protruding enough to latch. Is this a common problem? Can they be fixed or do i just go get some 5/16ths injector line and clamps to replace them?

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
