Tehnation Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I want to switch to top feed by swapping 07+ lgt fuel rail, tgv and regulator or do I have to use some shiny kit? I can get 08' fuel rail and regulator for 150 bucks and was then going to swap side feed tgv for top feed tgv deletes for 200 bucks probably spacers while I am at it. Is this possible?
covertrussian Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 What's the specs between top feed and side feed injectors? If they are the same CC and same latency, no tune is needed. 23 WRX - Stock / De-Crosstreked 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) / 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct / 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg
Tehnation Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 It wasn't about the injectors, more about fuel delivery. When I searched for more info I couldn't find anyone swapping 05'-06' fueling system with 07'-09'. My thought process was spend 625 on dw850cc injectors OR swap to top feed tgv deletes & 8mm spacers 275, 07'-09' fuel injector rail 50, and some ev14 1000cc injectors for 425 =750. But not sure on the details. I am more concerned with if its possible to swap to an 07-09 fuel system, I haven't read about anyone doing it so I imagine there's a reason. From the looks of it Top feed is where its at for tuning and performance.
covertrussian Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Top fed is better value $$ per CC, side fed is better if you want huge injectors (1k cc+) As for fuel systems, I noticed people saying that 07+ STI's need a fuel pump sooner then 06 and older. Maybe LGT is the same? 23 WRX - Stock / De-Crosstreked 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) / 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct / 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg
Tehnation Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Side feed only goes up to 1kcc, top feed has bigger and better value injectors. Side feed is only better because they say the design cools the fuel or something along those lines, which makes the car easier to start when its hot.
Tehnation Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Really? No ones tried this? 07-09 top feed, 05-06 sidefeed. No one has tried the conversion? I guess I'll be the first to try.
Tehnation Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 I'm picking up an 07 fuel rail, after looking at these pictures http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/changing-top-feed-injectorsi-look-here-pix-fuel-rail-140225.html I can remove the fpr, bridge it with 05 fpr.
Tehnation Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 It will take a little re piping but its fairly straightforward. I can get this done for around 800 bucks. $430 injectors with pnp kit http://www.deatschwerks.com/products/fuel-injectors/sport-compact/subaru/legacy-gt/2007-12-legacy-gt/17u-07-1000-4-detail $200 07 tgv deletes http://www.importimageracing.com/zerolift-autolab-subaru-tgv-delete-valves-2008-2014-subaru-wrx-2005-2009-legacy-gt.html $75 8mm spacers http://www.importimageracing.com/grimmspeed-3x-thick-8mm-phenolic-spacer-wrx-sti-lgt-fxt.html $100 07 fuel rail from quick disconnects to injectors Junkyard $20 for beer and various bolts I may need. For $825 I will have tgv deletes, manifold spacer and 1000cc injectors. Not a bad deal, I will let everyone know my results when I am done.
Tehnation Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Ok so heres my game plan. Swap this with this Or something along those lines.
