I love how you set that up Rob! Great clean placement, I like the look.

With a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot, there's nothing I can't solve.

What you can't see there, and what I forgot to take a photo of, is the Fumoto valve I installed in the OCC to make draining it easier.

I already had 3mm spacers on there from when I installed the caliper covers, so I decided to leave them on and then add the Ichibas on top of them giving me a total of 20mm. I also put in new red lug nuts because the old ones where already looking like crap. I took it out for a test drive and everything felt nice and tight with no vibration.

nstg8r,

Your Ultragauge, two questions:

1) Your opinion on the OBDII gauge?

2) Does it display AFR, EGT, coolant temp, engine oil temp OR transmission temp on our Legacy's?

Thank You,

Manny

I like it, my main page displays coolant temp, intake temp and a few trip gauges. I don't think any of those other temp gauges are available on our Legacys because the ECU doesn't report them. Check here for more info on gauges available: http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/support/support.htm

It also warns of pending and current DTCs

Thank you. I ordered the UltraGauge EM Plus. It's a new version at was released in March. I may eventually want to go to a Zeitronix ZT-2 with the DashDaq to get wideband AFR and monitor intake, coolant and exhaust temps. But if the UltraGauge can get me 80% of the way there I'd love to save $700.

"The UltraGauge EM Plus is an experimental version and is only recommended for users that are very comfortable with technology and are willing to work with support in the unlikely event that an issue is discovered. For all others, we highly recommend the UltraGauge EM v1.2"

Once again, also keep in mind some of what the UG is capable of will depend on what the ECU will report. Something like oil & exhaust temps wont be available no matter what.

Agreed, for example I have heard that our ECU's do not measure engine oil pressure. I don't know if that is true but one such possible example. Yes, the EM Plus is experimental or beta. I figured at the cost of the UG these things are darn near throw always. If it's too much of a hassle I'll replace it with the EM 1.2 like yours. Now the question is where does a guy stick the damn thing. I'm not the type of driver who likes gauges all over my dash and windscreen. Need some place to mount that is discrete. Any thoughts?

You can see where I mounted mine in the 3rd post on this thread. While I'm seated, I can see it just to the left of my steering wheel.

Has anyone tried using Torque for Android with a BT OBDII ELM327 unit to receive all of this data? That's the setup I'm looking to build out as a heads up display for my car.

I've tried it and I actually like it better than the UltraGauge because it has a better GUI and more customization features. It's just not practical to me to have my phone running all the time like that. The UG is just plug it in and forget it. I have two ELM327 units. I'd sell you one if you don't already have one.

Already bought the ELM unit :) Was originally hoping it would work with IOS but no Apple doesn't like that BT connection :( so I have to go Android...cheaper tablets anyways. just need to find one bright enough.

Watch woot for factory refurbished Galaxy Tabs. Don't just cheap out and get one of the cheap chinese tablets, I've had a few, used them in automation projects, regretted it. I got a Galaxy Tab 2 last year for 150, it's a good tablet; they come on sale every couple of weeks or so.

Since I had already done the quad-backup light mod, I decided to turn the stock reverse lights into rear fog lights. I used a set of red 13W 921 bulbs I found on [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G61M3JS/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Amazon[/ame]. I cut the +12V leads to the 921 sockets and wired the sockets directly to a switch in the dashboard which taps +12V battery power from the fuse box. The original +12V leads for the reverse lights are now directly wired to the switchback turn signals.

Switch:

Rear fogs by themselves:

And then I added a Rydeen MINy backup camera.

It looks like you have to tie the two wires at the trunk together for the parking lines. There is a set to reverse the image, and there is a set for the lines. You have both parking line sets because the hu generates them as well.

Yeah, I took care of that today. I wish there was a way to turn off or at least change the way the HU lines appear because they are askew to the right. the only settings I found was to adjust the brightness, contrast and language of the reverse screen.

Yeah, I saw that. Was hoping for a more concise how-to since that thread has a lot of research discussion.

A lot of it is going to depend on which HU you have and which wires are pre-installed in the harnesses. That's why SVXdc asked for people to post what setups they have.

Could that be resolved by changing the location of the camera? Just wondering if it expects it to be placed left, or right depending on the country and not actually dead center.
