dcgt05 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Anyone know how to get to this so I can clean whatever is gumming it up? I'm sure it's not that hard - just don't want to go cracking parts trying to figure it out.
FJuan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I had the same problem when I spilt something on there. I just used a swab and general clean (409, fantastic) and worked the swab around the button until it started loosening up. My wife's balls are delicious.
dcgt05 Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Yeah, I tried that but still sticky. I feel like I need to get in there to clean it up.
FJuan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 The other way is to pull out the vents & cubby and disconnect the display. From what I remember the buttons come right off once you unscrew the display from the back. My wife's balls are delicious.
iNVAR Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 No go with rubbing alcohol? Obviously with the car off. That usually breaks down grime and adhesive and stuff, and it will dry within a minute or two.

FJuan Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 The problem with alcohol is that it could discolor the plastic. My wife's balls are delicious.

FJuan Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 That's a good option. Have to try it next time when I spill something. My wife's balls are delicious.

firehawk618 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 OP, mine was sticky but it wasn't due to any substance gumming up the button. Mine was like that because the rubber pad under the button you press was very worn. What I did was dismantle the clock and took the rubber pad off one of either the + or - buttons which are rarely uses and swapped them with the DISP pad. Works like a charm. I suggest you dismantle the clock completely to clean out any gummy crap you have built up on the DISP button AND swap pads while you have the clock apart. It was really easy. 10' CTS-V, A6, Airraid, 2.4 upper, ID850's, self tuned. SOLD:06' LGT Wagon. BNR16G, Catless UP, DOWN, Hexmods VB, Hexmods diff bushings, BIG TMIC. firehawk618 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It wasn't hard. Look up how to remove the center cubby. After that's out you have to remove the vents off that assembly then just take the clock apart. It really wasn't hard. 10' CTS-V, A6, Airraid, 2.4 upper, ID850's, self tuned. SOLD:06' LGT Wagon.
