Looking at picking up a Megan Racing CBE to replace my incredibly loud and awesome sounding FMS. I'm just getting old, and a weekend road trip with the old lady would be nice without the noise. Should be much quieter at cruise, with a little rumble at idle and WOT. Fit and finish should be a step up also.

Several of my local Subaru bros voiced their opinion of the MR CBE being nothing more than an EBay exhaust. Can anyone attest to its quality, or recommend another more suitable CBE for my goals? I'm finding that no matter what I end up buying, having a CATLESS UP, CATLESS DP, and 8CM TURBINE HOUSING, there's no such thing as a quiet exhaust anymore...

Yeap, looking into that same generation - 2006-2007 SR5. Would be more comfortable and practical way to haul my buddies and gear during the snowboarding season.

My brother has the 06 V8 with a borla exhaust and that thing hauls ass. Only thing is the back seats leave alot to be desired. If your 5' 8" or taller its going to be a uncomfortable ride in the back.

I bought an auto be more involved in my uninvolvedness . 200k+ Club

If you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

My high mileage turd.

Sounds like a good choice. Don't forget to post pics when they're finished.

Did the base and clear coat on the first wheel to see how I like it... I guess it's not too bad for the minimal prep I did.

I'll get some better pics in the sun.

Here's the final result... Not sure what to do about center caps. The factory originals are dented and look like crap. The wheel design begs for a color matched center, but I'm looking at all options. STi caps maybe?

Been awhile since I updated.

Left work in a hurry today. I'm basically TRYING to break the 5MT at this point...

Also, a better pic of the OEM wheel paint job. I'm very pleased.

Next up are the rear brakes I've been putting off, as well as front ball joints and tie rod ends. Praying my pinch bolts won't be a bitch.

I put together a quick list of what I want to do with the car this year. Lots of maintenance, maybe some goodies if time and moneyz allow. This year's goal is to run a few autox's (not sure what class I am anymore) and get out to Putnam or Mid-O. I'm not so worried about refinements anymore with the addition of the 4Runner to the stable, so might as well go racecar mode from here on out. I'll be editing this post to keep track of progress.

Maintenance:

Recalls

Whiteline Roll Center Adjust Kit - bought

Whiteline FSB lateral locks - bought

Recalibrate WB02

After reading the SCCA classing rules, i currently fall into Street Modified class. The only outlawed mods that I'd like to do are an ALK and chassis bracing, but I say **** the rules if it makes the car feel better. Those will bump me to the Prepared/Modified big boy class. Bring on da racecars.

I don't know why but I really like the look of our stock rims.

Maybe because they look similar to the Porsche Cayman OEM 67341 Wheel?

What's the consensus on rear diff bushings and sway bars? I was looking at the Cusco RSB and whiteline diff bushings.

The rear roll stiffness of the car needs to be addressed this year since the front tends to plow a bit under hard cornering. I'm still on stock everything back there.

Ever since switching to a Turbosmart BPV (full recirc) I've felt the car buck under certain situations when lifting off throttle. Sometimes it can feel pretty violent. BPV was installed immediately prior to dyno tune. Never happens when redline shifting at WOT, only when lifting during max load mid spool. Also, I notice some BPV flutter if I really bog the engine, let it slightly spool, and lift.

I'm leaning towards needing a lighter spring, or an adjustable BPV. It wouldn't bother me so much, except I think it could cause some issues under similar conditions during autox when the bucking may unsettle the car slightly.

Open to other ideas.

RELATED Mods:

Turbosmart BPV

Grimmspeed TMIC

Moore performance catless UP

2012 ej257

South Bend stage 2 endurance clutch

Td05 16g 8cm

Perrin inlet

Turn in Concepts protuned

3" turboback exhaust

K&N typhoon CAI

Your car sounds really neat.

which one do you have?

I have the kompact recirc one using the stock turbo, every few months i clean it out and lube the piston and bore with remington gun oil... its a really thin oil that has teflon in it. The vacuum lines didnt fit right on the supplied port (hose too big from being on the old valve). I cut back the hose and wrapped the port with some tape for a tighter fit.

I still have my stock swaybar but do have urethane bushings and they seemed to help. I used ones that are greaseable with a grease gun

I also have a kit that i got from prothane for about a 100 on amazon for all urethane bushings.

front control arm bushings, steering rack bushings, rear diff bushings too

i havent installed mine yet because ive been busy and replaced my control arms in december which came with new bushings

summit has it for 90

you can also get differential inserts which fill the gap in the rear diff bushings so you dont need to drop everything heres a site that sells them
