RiceKiller2.5GTL
I just purchased a new '05 Legacy 2.5GTL and I want to replace the stock exhaust (way too quiet) but I have come to the conclusion that I DO NOT want to VOID the warranty. I spoke to a parts manager at my local Subaru dealer and he said that Suabru does not make an exhaust for our cars as of now. Does anyone have any info on an exhaust for new Legacy GTs that is made by Subaru (SPT) that either is or is coming out shortly?? Thanks!
redfly17
How will you void any type of warranty by modifying the exhaust?
RiceKiller2.5GTL
every person at the dealer I went to said that if i modify the car in any way i will void my warranty.
deimos
a cat back exhaust should be fine by your dealer unless the cat back breaks in which case subaru wont cover it. If you get into more than catback exhaust, ie: upipe, downpipe, etc, subaru will deny coverage on any problem that can be associated with the mod. If your A/c breaks they still have to fix it. melayout
For more growl with the least impact on your warranty, do an axle-back, which is basically replacing the mufflers. They are a direct bolt-on and unless you install them incorrectly or they're not designed correctly, there are not going to break anything. The Lachute mufflers are pretty good. Gire
Its so loosely interpreted though... Most dealers will void anything that could be attributed to mods. "Radio not working? Sorry sir, it's because of the aftermarket springs you put in your car. Warranty denied." Just be prepared to have your powertrain warranty voided completely once you start modifying your engine and/or exhaust.

redfly17
id like to see them argue how a cat back exhaust caused the radio/AC unit to break
Xenonk
you can get a set of STi Genome exhuasts or STi Twin Tip Mufflers from Subaru of Japan.. both are axle-backs.. see here: http://sapporo.cool.ne.jp/legacy-bp5/GENOME.jpg http://www.sclabo.com/partslist/images/parts/subaru-002_l.jpg http://www.rallispec.com/images_product/RST4407_small.jpg More Subaru "supported" exhausts here: http://www.rallispec.com/sub_engineinex.htm http://www.sclabo.com/cgi-bin/newparts/list.pl?num=1&car=1&maincat=7&subcat=701 http://www.sclabo.com/partslist/legacy.html Keefe Keefe

He's cutting and pasting while just changing a few words to fit the title... A simple search could have fixed this issue.. or better yet, just PM a knowledgeable person on the boards here would do nicely.
