sdlegacy
I am looking to buy a 2010 or 2011 legacy 2.5i legacy. I noticed they usually come with CVT, which I have no experience with so I have a few questions. If you have never driven a manual car, is CVT just as easy as an automatic car? For cold weather, can you rank these legacies: 2010 CVT 2010 Auto 2011 CVT 2011 Auto I've read issues with CVT and cold weather, so I want to know if the 2010 or 2011 has less issues. Or should I just avoid CVT altogether?
Rush600
CVT is "automatic" as in you don't do any of the shifting like you would in a manual car. If you like "Driving" your car get a manual, if you like using your car as a means of transportation get the cvt or automatic. As far as cool weather performance, I have no idea... dgoodhue
The 2010 automatic is a CVT. It's only a CVT or 6MY on the 2010+ 5th Gen's
laz
The CVT on my '12 is great. Very smooth. The paddle shifter is very useful. I believe the '10 is very similar. X ---
glock_19
I have a 2013 and the CVT is smooth as butter once the car gets up to temp. On cold mornings if you're trying to drive it gently it can be a little jerky until the car warms up.

This dealer (http://billkolbjrsubaru.com/inventory/view/Make/Subaru/Model/Legacy/Used/SortBy0/) lists a couple of Automatics. Maybe it was just a couple of data entry errors? If it's a 2.5i it's either a CVT or manual. The 3.6R has a traditional automatic.

ehsnils
If you want fuel economy you can consider the CVT.
