FunkyMonkey Posted August 29, 2013 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Hello, my 05 GT has a small clicking noise that kind of sounds like a fan and a small oil leak that is very hard to determine the source without taking a great deal of my engine bay apart, and I don't have the time for that right now. I checked my turbo lines and under the engine for the leak. My engine mount is wet / oily and the leak is coming from the passenger side. I am thinking it is the cam seals / rear of the engine ( the "crescent moon" part in the engine ). The valve covers are dry. What is this part called, or where do you guys think the leak is coming from ?? Please advise Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Max Capacity Posted August 29, 2013 Share Posted August 29, 2013 The passenger side valve cover is leaking, fairly common on these cars. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. I am gonna have it on a lift fairly soon just was wondering where this mysterious oil leak is originating from. jp233 Posted August 29, 2013 Share Posted August 29, 2013 If you can get a good look at the cam bore plugs ("half-moons"), they could be leaking. If you have to replace those, you will want to replace the valve cover gasket (including the two that go around the spark plug holes). Also check the turbo oil supply lines.
