  1. I have a 2013 Legacy with the 2.5i and it started to burn oil at arond 80k miles (now at 89k miles). My family decided to contact the Subaru headquarters and essentially try to get their attention any way possible. They are now going to be repairing my engine free of charge since they know it is a defect. I linked the forum below. An engine with only 51k miles should NOT be burning oil. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/engine-needs-re-seal-according-dealeriii-282368.html
  2. Yah I am not even going to touch the 2nd gen. I've read that the Automatic tranny goes out on them very quickly. The third gen tranny can push close to 200k IF taken care of very well. Obviously since I will be buying a used car with either 1 or 2 owners, I can't fully tell how well a car was fully taken care of and only by the way it looks and feels.
  3. Lol I've been glued to my computer doing research since the whole "quarantine" started. I'm obviously going to be weighing out my options and trying to find the best deal for the best condition. It's just a matter of being at the right place at the right time.
  4. Sure as hell sounds like something a dealer would do...
  5. The problem with my car is I can tell it's gonna need to sold. I'm already having oil drip slowly, I guess the headgaskets are done, the CVT will go out after the warranty (it's known to happen), and I'm starting to hear something rattle in the middle of the car (I think it's the heat shield). My mother drove the car for 82k miles and garaged it that whole time, then I took it and that's right around when the car started getting the oil issues. I literally only drove it to high school and back, and on road trips. I baby the car to death and it's just getting worse at 89k miles now. I could sell the car for around $8k, and get a car that I love like an 08 Acura TL Type-S for somewhere around the same price and be super happy with the power output.
  6. Lmao it turns out they would have given me $1,000 to a NEW Subaru. I originally misunderstood it. I am not planning on keeping the car, and the warranty for the drivetrain runs out at 100k miles so I will dump the car now while it's still available.
  7. Yah from my understanding it's on one side of the engine (where the oil flows). Obviously if it was an issue with coolant then the engine would be in severe shape. I wonder if Subaru will ever fix their headgasket issues & Oil Consumption Issues. For example, I keep reading that the Crosstrek burns oil...
  8. Yah I've got to sell the car after it's fixed so I'm not sure how long it'll take. I'm hoping to either get an Infiniti or an Acura. Something quick but also nice
  9. This has been my mindset recently as I have been searching for a car to upgrade to. If a car has issues, mainly bigger ones like you mentioned then I tend to pass on the vehicle and I don't look back. If it's something minor like an allignment or a bit of a vibration then I address it with the dealer and would have them fix it...
  10. Subaru is now going to repair my car free of charge. On June 8th I will take the car in and they'll replace the headgaskets in addition to a few other things. After that I will sell my car and upgrade to something newer.
  11. Well here's a little bit of an update... I've been looking for a different car and I have it down to either an Infiniti G37 or an Acura TSX/TL. Subaru said they'd give us $1,000 which is peanuts compared to the repair cost of $2,800. The dealership that we bought the car from Brand New said they can give us $500, which is disgraceful! Apparently the most that this dealership *could* cover is $2,200, but even then I do not think I should be paying for a defect in an engine. We'll see what Subaru does, as well as the dealership. I really might just trade this car in and get something nicer, it's become such a headache.
  12. I just hope whoever ends up painting a new bumper for you doesn't mismatch the color. I've been looking for a new car and I've spotted that mistake so many times, especially with the pictures online.
  13. Damn that sucks... You could probably take a soccer ball and pump it up behind the bumper to pop out the dent. As far as the paint, maybe polish it and use a little touch-up paint lol
  14. Yah I will admit I don't like them all that much, but the white/blue looks great though.
  15. And if you go this route, please do not buy the cheap chinese assemblies. They are terrible, hence why you always should go OEM with headlight assemblies.
  16. Out of curiosity, how come the NY plates are different? Typically I see the Yellow/Dark Blue NY plates here in MA.
  17. Wow that looks awesome. It's crazy how much of a difference it makes
  18. Wow that's sad. I had a similiar situation with my current 2013 Legacy since mine started burning oil at only around 80k miles (now at 89k miles). The guy at the Subaru dealership told me he doesn't expect these cars to go past 100,000, and he wanted $2,800 to re-seal the whole engine! I'm currently looking for a newer car and I will trade my Legacy in, I know it's only going to have more problems going forward especially with the CVT like you mentioned. $7,300 is absurd for a terribly designed tranny, that's literally what the car is worth... I hope you manage to find a solution, whether it be fixing the car or dumping it. As much as I hate to say it, I sure as heck will never get another Subaru or recommend it to anyone...
  19. Personally I would do it to be on the safe side. I would rather spend a chunk of money once every 9 years/105k miles (depending on how many miles you drive), instead of running the risk of ruining my engine without the intent. That's my opinion...
