  1. These are great cans. But market for LGT things is not what it used to be. I had hard time selling them for $500.

That's because unfortunately I wasn't looking when you were selling haha. I just got mine a few months ago and I think you had just sold yours. I was pretty upset that I missed the opportunity.

  2. I bought a set of 4 JDM STi GDB gold wheels to use as winter wheels. After driving on them for a season I noticed one had a crack through the spoke. I thought that's really unlucky so I had to scour the internet for a replacement. They are almost always sold in sets of 4 so it's hard to find a single. Finally I found one and it was expensive but I got a full set again.

Then another season later I noticed ANOTHER wheel with a cracked spoke. I did the same thing and found another single wheel to replace it.

So now I have 4 good wheels and 2 with cracked spokes. I'd like to get rid of the cracked ones since they're just taking up space. Are they worth anything? I feel bad throwing them away. If someone wants them I'd be willing to give them away.

    I live south of Seattle.

  3. And as far as sound and performance goes. Right now I have a completely stock exhaust except the STi Quad Tip mufflers.

They have a very deep sound at very low RPM, like 500 or so when you're parking. Other than that there is not much of a difference while driving but it does sound a little louder.

My butt dyno actually feels a difference in low and mid range torque. I'm very happy with them.

  4. And this is how they look on an Outback 3.0R with a JDM bumper. I'd like them to stick out more as these are designed for the JDM Legacy which had an even shorter bumper than the JDM Outback.

When I get some Raptor headers I'll see if the exhaust shop can push the mufflers back a little.

  5. I've had my 2008 Outback 3.0R for over a year and it makes some really ugly sounds at low RPMs. I thought it was the heat shields and tried every fix known to man until I finally removed them completely. And I still have the nasty rattle.

Anything else near the front of the car that would sound exactly like a heat shield?

I have a theory that maybe it's inside the headers or catalytic converter since those parts are layers of metal. Maybe those layers are rattling together?

  6. I have a similar experience. I was buying a 2005 Outback and a few seconds into the test drive I knew the wheel bearings were bad. The sellers were like, "no no no we already brought it to a shop and it's not that, we don't know what it is." I took their word for it and tried everything to figure something else out. Finally a couple months later I replaced a rear wheel bearing....better. Then replaced the front on the same side.....no more noise. I guess this generation of Legacy fools a lot of mechanics.
  7. Hey, just admiring your build and saw this PNW Wagonfest thing. Sounds awesome. Too bad I missed it this year. I'm doing lots of good stuff to my wagon this year and will be ready for next year. There seems to be a lot of fun car events around here but I seem to find out about them after the fact.

Summer update. Got the wagon all cleaned up for PNW Wagonfest tomorrow. Bringing my little Impreza rally wagon as well. I got the new seats in and 95% figured out. No beeps from the passenger side but still have an airbag light. Ill figure it out someday. Also picked up a unique (none AVO) JDM double din kit. Working on figuring out what I want to do infotainment wise.

  8. I believe the flange on the 3.6 is different. I'm planning to get Raptor headers as soon as they're back in stock. I hope their prices are still reasonable. They have $399AUD listed on their website which is very cheap in USD at the moment. I'm sure shipping will be a lot though.

Since Raptor makes a 3.0 and 3.6 version I'm assuming there really is a difference.

  9. I also decorated my JDM bumper with a JDM Legacy "cargo step panel" from japanparts for about $150 including shipping. I chose the Legacy one over the Outback because it's stainless steel. The Outback version is made of a black plastic material. I later realized that the Legacy version is thinner than the Outback version because the JDM legacy bumper is probably only like 3" deep, haha.

Knowing that, I still think the stainless steel cargo step panel looks great even though it's not made for my JDM Outback bumper.

Sorry for the dirty car

  10. I bought a used JDM bumper from HKC-Speed that already had the metal brackets riveted on. From reading this post and what HKC-Speed told me, I thought I needed brackets off a USDM bumper. I didn't want to take the brackets off my bumper so I started looking for used. No one is selling them used but luckily I found a guy on subaruoutback.org who was getting rid of a bumper. I paid him a small fee and he drilled out the rivets on his and mailed them to me. I also bought a rivet gun on Amazon because I didn't own one.

When they arrived I compared them to the JDM one and they looked exactly the same.

So you do not need the USDM brackets if your JDM bumper already has them. It will bolt right up. But you DO need a USDM Legacy sedan metal bumper frame which I was able to find for cheap at a junk yard.

  11. I got my set for about $168. I thought it would be slightly cheaper with the dollar being so high currently.

Installed them on my black Outback. Not much of a difference to the look of my car possibly because my car is black.

One negative thing I perceive in that there seems to be a stronger crosswind blowing into my ear when the window is down. Doesn't even help to lower the rear windows. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

Anyway, I'm keeping them. I've been putting a ton of JDM parts on lately and I love making my car every bit more different from the standard USDM Outback but still not looking too much like a tuner car or whatever.

  12. I am like 99% sure I saw a black Gen 4 Outback with a JDM bumper about a week ago in Federal Way, WA getting on I-5 South from WA-18 East. I thought I would be the only one in the area with a JDM bumper. Haha. Seems like I have a doppelganger around here. I'd like to know who they are if they're on here. Wondering what kind of other mods they've done. Maybe I'll get some inspiration for my Outback.
  13. Finished painting my Cadillac Brembos. I went with some Rustoleum high heat primer, then several coats of VHT gloss black caliper paint. I then let it dry overnight and baked them in the oven to fully cure the paint.

I then bought some STi caliper stickers from eBay and waited for them to come in the mail.

When they arrived I did some very light wet sanding with 800 grit and then after they dried I applied the stickers and several coats of VHT gloss clear caliper paint.

I think I'll but the brackets when CTSV does a black friday deal. So I probable won't be testing these until the winter or later.

  14. I just got started on the Cadillac Brembo upgrade. So far I’m just buying calipers and paint because it won’t be good painting weather for much longer in Washington state. The passenger side caliper arrived today and to my surprise it says “Made in Mexico” on the box and cast into the caliper. Weird. I thought these were being made in the US. Anyone else get made in Mexico calipers or am I the lucky guy to get one of the first off the assembly line?
  15. Holy Thread Bump!

Any chance of the part numbers?

    SC

I know this is an old question but I'd like to revive this thread.

    Here are the part numbers:

    ST4430021001 for turbo sedan

    ST4430021011 for turbo wagon

    ST4430021020 for N/A sedan

    ST4430021030 for N/A wagon

Now I believe this raises more questions. 4 different part numbers? I think it's safe to assume that the wagon models have slightly longer tips. But what would the difference be between the N/A and turbo mufflers?

I have recently installed a JDM Outback bumper on my 2008 3.0R (Thanks HKC Speed) and would very much like to put some STi sport mufflers on. But will the N/A or turbo make a big difference? All the used listings I've seen do not specify what they are.
