$20 DIY Open Induction Cover
underpowerd replied to CSTMIZR's topic in Walkthroughs :: Performance Modifications
i did some heatshielding too, but used aluminum sheet and covered it with that thermotec reflective tape (i'll take/post pics in here one day) -- at least to the touch, the intake is now waaaay cooler after running than it was without, so heatshield definitely a good idea for this hot-air-intake mod -
from the pics i've seen, the lens holders and bowls are nearly identical to the 330s; consequently, using the lgt shields should practically make them a bolt on affair i liked the MDX shields as well, and the mounting bolt pattern looks tantalizingly close to the lgt, but actually needs either bracketing, or to be redrilled/slotted; took some doing (drill few holes, trim here, grind there, some washers) to get the entire optics assembly to tuck in/bolt up perfectly, but i'm happy i did, spread is wide and sweet. i have a full writeup with pics on my other comp, will post it later on if there's anyone that wants it. as for year, mine are 08, and i believe that was the first year the mdx got hid. here's a crappy cell phone wall pic (55w ddm ballasts, philips bulbs, no color washer spacing, oem mdx squirrel spotters left open): (fogs off) http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/Cutoff-nofogs.jpg

HOW TO: Fix your heated seat
underpowerd replied to schwartzki's topic in Walkthroughs :: Basic Operation & Maintenance
there's some hope for the frozen-assed few astounded and terrified by the op's thorough and impressive method; did the following last night, warmer works like new: undo rear seat anchor, reach in to tug cloth warmer unit back out one inch or so, feel for stat in cloth, resolder the broken wire(s), tuck back in, reattach anchor. >1 hour -

i found out the other day that it isn't a bulb, but rather an led integrated onto a circuit board. that didn't stop me the circuit board is independent, and just clips into the harness. i just busted out the old soldering iron and transferred the pins from the board to a #74 5-led bulb from autolumination so that at least two of the leds would light on one side, then widened the holes on both the brown led board casing and the top of the glovebox that let light through. it took me through a 15w fuse or two to get the right polarity finally, but the result is great -- actual bright white light to see what's in the glovebox . http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0161.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0160.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0159.jpg fwiw, the cubby pod has the exact same led + cicuit board setup -- i did a much simpler swap on that; i just replaced the orange led with a spare red one i had laying around (just clip and re-solder). result is a cool little red accent behind the gauges that much better jives with the predominantly red 'night' interior scheme. you can also see the ashtray replacement in a few of these -- that is actually just a true #74 bulb that needs a swapout for led i wouldn't say this is plug-and-play, but with a little fab, imagination and common sense, doable in many different ways, even for an electrical invalid like myself a good time is when you are going to tear it all down for cabin filter enjoy. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0165.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0162.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0163.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0164.jpg

Headlight clearing (w/pics)

^Agreed -- A video collage of all of us doing that step to monkey noises would make for great AFV. I don't think there's a science. -

If you can happen upon a used oem airbox f/s (even just the front half), it's the easiest way to go (just dremel) -- can be very inexpensive, too. I originally had to do this out of necessity (fmic installed & no tune for my avo sri), but my ears found it asthetically preferable to the sri, looked okay, and my setup didn't need that much air, so I kept it. I did a little resewing of an injen hydroshield for a prefilter. Have been using this for >10k, tuner-friendly, works great. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0475.jpg -
dgm sedan, southbound rt. 1 @ 11:30 near woodbridge maybe...

anybody know the size of the anemic glovebox bulb? box'll be coming out for a cabin filter change soon anyway, so i may as well coincide that dim little guy's demise with the absolutely imperative dome & map upgrades planned -- i'm sick of having to keep a mini flashlight in there tia
