  1. That’s really funny. Was just about to speak on the similiarities of the grille of the Pacifica vs the Tribeca G2. All and all being said I was very pleased with the styling of the Ascent. If our family didn’t already have our third row SUV I would absolutely consider it. It looks like my Outback, just a touch larger. While I have thought about making the argument for her to trade in her Honda pilot for the new Ascent when it comes out, I don’t think I’m ready for that argument. I barely drive the thing and she seems happy with it. We don’t need two three row SUV’s so it is a non issue for me. The only reason I might consider the ascent is it for some reason they discontinue the six-cylinder engine before I can buy a new outback or a legacy, and then they forced me into direct injection either way. I would prefer to avoid direct injection until we know more about it, especially long-term maintenance. I don’t want to have to walnut shell blast my engine every 30,000 miles. But, I can’t buy what is not available, and if the only engines available in the 2019 model is direct injection for both the four-cylinder and potential the turbo 4, there you go ...
  2. That is a nice looking car. I am so torn between the OB and Legacy going forward. I know I want the 3.6, though. Haven’t seen any Mag Gray Ob’s yet. Might want to think about that one. Hmm.
  3. I believe OBDFusion for iOS has a performance section. Not familiar enough with Android.
  4. I think I read that the EE series diesel liked to eat through clutches because it had a hard time dealing with the torque. But I have no first hand experience. If I could get a diesel here in the US, I probably would try it out.
  5. There is a TSB Foresters and Crosstrek. Might want to dig a little deeper.
  6. Aren’t the rev hang issues notes in the 6MT models loosely tied to emissions? I’ve heard on the Foz forums that they can be fixed with an ECU update at the dealer, but still, that’s the default.
  7. Honda's high strength steel makes the hood flutter any time you get over 40 mph. :/
  8. I’m torn. The global platform has been so awesome for the other models. One part of me wants to go for an Ascent Limited with HK upgrade (gotta have those Konoji led’s) but another part of me is saying wait for the 2020 Outback or Legacy and get the 2.4 DIT in that! And then another part of me is saying hey idiot, don’t get a DI engine, get the tried and true 3.6! If I got the DI I would absolutely do the CRC cleaner every oil change. Not sure I would go more than 3000 miles with a turbo per interval though.
  9. Yeah I personally don’t think Seafoam is a good option for me. If I had an old carburetor engine I might think about it. But not a modern engine. I’ll try calling my local Subaru service department on anything they offer for carbon and preventative stuff.
  10. Interesting. What are you suggesting, running like 5k for a minute or so in 3rd? Let me get out my drive ratio calculator so I can find out how fast that is. Some quick math on the 20’s suggests that you’d be around 6000 rpm in 3rd on the Ascent doing around 52 mph. The question is how long and how hard?
  11. That’s the thing. On DI it doesn’t matter. The gasoline doesn’t wash the intakes.
  12. There are quite a few negative comments about the CRC video saying the bigger chunks of carbon are damaging the pistons when they break off. I’m a fan of the OEM stuff that is made to work for Subies so i wouldn’t mind spending a few bucks for the official Carbon Clean product. Have to figure out how to use the tool though.
  13. Right. Anyone tested its effectiveness? Also thinking out loud about the LED headlights. Someone was saying that the orange part of the LED housing doesn’t light up and the only actual functional turn signal is the integrated part of the side mirror? @covertrussian these are the Subaru ones I’ve seen: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f207/carbon-buildup-cleaning-fa20dit-576634/ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw6FdAPX8ao
  14. 0w20 is extremely aggressive for a turbo, no? Don’t all the Subie turbos use 5w30?
  15. Anyone know if the DI can use some type of CRC/Spray cleaner in lieu of the walnut/media blasting every 30k miles? I know Subaru has a few products they use in the Australian market with their DI petrol engines, but I can't seem to find them at present. Nor a part number. Nor distrubution. But this shouldn't be rocket science since we have it in the FA20DIT already. People on the Honda forums are ignorant. My Honda Pilot has DI in the EarthDreams engine, and they're just saying to run TopTier gasoline in it. I'm sure that helps, but it won't clean the back side of the valves. Also any idea on oil requirement for Ascent? Thinking 5w30. On sale for $24 for 5 quart jug with $10 MIR for PP
  16. The ivory leather (?) ish pieces under the dashboard and under the door handles are... interesting on the Touring. I like that they match on the limited with your interior option. I suppose I have to figure out if I can get away with 7 seats vs. 8 and if the ventilated seats are worth the weird leather trim piece in the touring...
  17. Anyone have shots of the interior, specifically of the Touring trims? The Subaru site has a "pre-production model" that might be dated. Would like to see some of this two-and-three toned type of motif they're going for. Also shots of the Limited interior would be cool to look at also. I'm trying to see how funky a Crystal Black / Java Brown would look.
  18. Thanks. Yeah, from what I've seen I believe the Ventilated Seats will be a Touring-Only option, kind of like the Heated Wheel on the Outback Tourings. You can't itemize the option on another trim. I'm kind of in the same boat. The pricing is exceptionally aggressive, it's pretty much the same price as the Outback 3.6. I'm going to have to think long and hard about this one. I'm not sure I want to handle that much beef for a commuter car, especially because we have another third-row SUV, but man, that looks nice. I'd have to think hard about the accessories and options. There aren't many itemized options looking at the pricing and at-a-glance page. I actually like the idea of the Premium for the smaller tires/better fuel economy. I think that'll lead to a bigger/stiffer sidewall and better comfort. I think what you said, though, makes sense. I can get package "23" with the Limited for $2950 MSRP, which seems better than the package "14" on the Premium that adds $4260. I think I'll probably stay away from the Touring, despite the really cool leather seats, primarily for the color options. I'd probably go Black/Black or Black ext/Gray int. Really, really have to think about this one. The 87 octane is a game changer for me.
  19. From what I’ve seen newer models tend to have a higher rate. For example the crosstrek has been a big success and they’re still around 3% apr. meanwhile you can get an OB or Leg for 0% for 63 months @sbt sending you a pm.
  20. If you finance through SMF (Chase) they have a complimentary 90 day deferment for the start if that helps your finances. I think you need a FICO of 700 or higher but it’s something I didn’t realize existed. So, take delivery in september, payments won’t start till december.
  21. Dealers near me telling me (Ambassador) that they won’t even have one available for test drive until early Fall because all of them will be pre orders.
  22. So then the question becomes do you run 93 in it anyway...
