  1. Just want some thoughts...

     

    Hill called and told me it was a hardware failure (rod bolt or cap). That being said, we were out of injector last time. Is it wrong if I get the 1700x installed? I called ID and they said the 1700's idle exactly like the 1300's on pump and e-85. Would like to get these in now since I have to start over anyway.

     

    Just wanted some thoughts, feeling a little HP greed, but if the injector was the only thing holding me back...

     

    TLDR: I feel like asking for bigger injectors and more power after the engine blew up (granted, hardware failure) is wrong.

     

    Not sure why though, sleeved motor should be good to big HP.

  2. Agile says they believe it to be a hardware failure (rod bolt) they are not certain why at this point. I will know by Wednesday.

     

    They are sending a new block out today to get sleeved (Darton). Hill was professional and I applaud his quest for knowledge (I want to know what happened as well).

     

    Happy to confirm the shop I have been using for years is one of the good ones.

  3. Didn't see any oil pressure issues, no noise until this happened. I saw threads in the rod so I am assuming the bolt backed out. The last couple threads are stripped (my guess they backed out and then ripped the last few threads when it gave way)

    Appreciate the info, exactly why I went with a known subaru shop, didnt want the headache. Mistakes happen, I guess??

  4. Exactly... All the warm and cozy is gone lol.

     

    Took some more pics, running theory now is that one of the rod bolts (#3) backed out. Pics show good threads in one side of the rod with only the last 2 threads ripped out. The other side snapped obviously lol.

     

    One of the pics shows an unknown piece of aluminum inside the bellhousing inspection cover... what a cluster f.....

     

    P.s. the other pic of the radiator is a piece of the crossover pipe that made it to the radiator..

  5. Well, the "New" built longblock ran for about 2600 miles total before throwing a rod out the top of the engine (cyl #3)

     

    No noises or issues, went to merge @ 45mph half throttle and heard a noise, cut the ignition and smoke started billowing from the hood. Coasted in neutral for a while and stopped.

     

    Coolant and oil everywhere... I was picking up food for my son's birthday, so there's that..

     

    Had my insurance tow to my house (Agile is 51 miles)

    and will have Agile's tow company grab the car this weekend.

     

    So disappointing, luckily they built the whole thing top to bottom and I have a 1 year 12k mile warranty....

  6. Thanks for the feedback. Do you think the whiteline bushing would increase NVH over the group N?

     

    I would say so, the two are completely different materials/hardness. That being said, I have so much NVH the only thing I noticed was no movement ( also added a cusco mount and solid driveshaft bushings at the same time so lol)

     

    Still need to do the rear, looking at replacing my rear subframe, might do it all together.
