  1. Let’s see some more pics with the new wheels! That rear end does look pretty damn good. Now I need a rear spoiler too... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Oh I see. I’d rather uses the regular gray parts because the material my guy used is clear where it’s not that black grain so it blends into the rest of the car better. He was only going to charge me $130 for all he did but he ended up doing it for free because it was his first time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I’m talking about using the non wood grain radio surround as its way more durable than the wood grain version. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've broken at least two of those while trying to install:( I went a different route on my 2002 F150 and had some trim pieces hydrodipped in a black woodgrain. It came out pretty nice and I might use the same guy and design on my Outback.
  5. I've raced with the Houston SCCA in my 03 F150 Lightning a few years ago and they didn't have different classes that I was aware of. I will be sure to check the rules out though. Thanks
  6. I got some work done on the car today and received some new OEM parts in the mail! I got the top, right and left windshield trim, new instrument cluster "glass" and a new cargo net. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1112.jpg I was surprised that the cargo net included the mounting hardware and detailed instruction and templates for installing the net so anyone can add a cargo net to their wagon. The part number is: F5510AS011 http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1113.jpg I got the city lights wired up: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1114.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1116.jpg And I got some NGK spark plugs installed. I have wires but they were the wrong ones even though Amazon says they will fit my car (NGK 8931). Kind of sucks since I had everything out... I ended up breaking the bolt that hold the fuse box panel and windshield washer reservoir and broke my extractor bit trying to get it out:( I started putting the JDM sidemarker lights in but they don't work well with the stock Outback door trim so I won't be using them until I can find the slim trim pieces.
  7. Oh yeah and I figured out why the CEL has been flashing since the dash install...I had the green diagnostic connectors plugged in. Unplugged it and not CEL now!
  8. Well good think I kept the box for the second one! I will for sure sell it to one of you two for a good price. So I have $2k to spend on my suspension in preparation for autocross and an eventual STI swap. Here's what I'm thinking so far: BC Racing Coilovers- Great product for the price range. I can get a 1" extended tube for the rear so I don't have to get saggy butt spacers that may cause me to not be able to use a rear tower brace. Front Sway bar- Something from an Imprezza so that it will clear a future turbo subframe brace. Not sure what brand to get? Whiteline? Cheaper alternatives? Rear Sway bar- again what brand is best and I'm not sure if I should get different sizes for front and rear. Swaybar links- Whiteline is super expensive, perrin is about $50 cheaper and I saw some steel ones but can't remember the brand. Strut Braces- I need to research the fronts more to figure out compatibility with a TMIC Cusco chassis brace- I've read that these make a very noticeable difference in chassis rigidity and will definitely be picking one up. Obviously all that I listed is more than 2K so I need to figure out what will be the most beneficial for now and get the rest later.
  9. That was the ticket. I think I'm good now. Somehow my Photobucket album for this car got deleted so I may have to go back through and re-upload and edit my post:( I got the title to the car today! I just need to go register it and I can finally drive it to work (legally) again! The projectors are in. I need to restore the driver side still, get new low beam bulbs and wire up the city lights to my parking lights. I'll eventually do the rhd to lhd conversion too. I got two quotes from some retrofitters to do the conversion and one was $300 and the other was $700....so I'll do it myself lol. That's suspension mod money! I went with new male and female 9007 plugs. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1091.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1092.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1093.jpg Future city lights http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_1089.jpg I'll get pics once the driver side is sanded and polished and I get new bulbs. I think I will go with the Philips Xtreme Vision for now since AutoZone has them in stock.
  10. Okay I'll check out the heater core. I don't smell anything abnormal in the car and I haven't used the heater...not sure if that matters or not. So now my problem is putting the oil temp needle back in properly. I took it out with the intention of putting the gray overlay from the '99 in my cluster to replace the black but quickly decided against it after i broke the needle... (I tried to swap out the whole cluster but the rpm and oil temp part didn't work) I'm trying to put it back in correctly and set it to the bottom but when I start the car it jumps up to running temp and then goes up from there. I tried putting the cluster in without the plastic cover so that I can stick the needle in when the car is warmed up. I put it in at the running temp position but then it just shoots up to hot right away. Is there a trick to doing this correctly?
  11. Car looks great! I need to see pics of the interior. When you say black interior are you referring to the darker charcoal of the '99s or did you use paint? I need to step up my engine bay game! Your's is looking like new! I plan on doing the white door handles/mirrors and two tone on the door trim. Did you take the trim off to sand and paint or was it left on the car?
  12. Right on, I'll give that a try. So I really want to put the new carpet in but I have a few things that need to be addressed first. 1. One of the seat bolts on the driver side seat (the one that connects to the transmission tunnel) has broken the threaded portion in the body shell off. the bolt spins but thats it. Not sure how I'm going to address this as theres only a little bit of slop. It will be very hard to get a reciprocation blade in there to cut the bolt off. 2. The carpet on the passenger side front seems slightly damp all the time. It's not soaked at all just not dry either. I can't find anything that stands out or where its coming from. 3 .The seat rails are slightly rusty and I don't want to stain the new carpet with rust like it is now. I would like to take the seat apart and sand the rusty portion down and prime and paint the whole assembly. Any recommendations on what paint I should be using?
  13. Yeah its kind of weird. I have the passenger door panel out of the Limited (only one worthy of swapping with mine) and it doesn't really match the dash from the same car... In other news I found a brand new driver side panel (94215AC031ML) for a '99 OBW limited for $82 on this website! Mine is looking rough from 20 years of abuse. I also ordered the front windshield top and right and left trim for when I replace the windshield, a new oem gauge cluster plastic glass and a new oem cargo net. It's getting there! Not fast enough though. I'm still trying to deal with getting the title straightened out. When it was re-registered in Texas from Colorado they made a 2 digit error with the vin number. My registration expired in november but hopefully I can get the title updated soon and be driving this thing and not worried about getting pulled over. I got the JDM garnish and tails installed but the garnish is a weird color. I think it may be the tinted version. I ordered another non tinted garnish and will be selling this one. Still working on getting the badge residue off... For the life of me I couldn't get the rear window trim to go over the garnish...my buddy at the body shop told me that when we paint the maroon hatch he will remove the rear glass and put it back on after the garnish is in. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1056.jpg
  14. Thanks but I figured it out: I got the rear cargo net installed from the Limited. It was kind of a pain and I still need to move the driver side lower up a little bit so the left section of the floor can move over all the way. My spare tire lid won't close properly the way it is now. The bottom hooks have these spacers and the left one is too low. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1050.jpg I had to drill holes like the limited for the upper hooks. I wish the Limited's rear pillar trim were in better shape. I really want the rear tweeters. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1049.jpg I'm excited that I don't have to use bungee cords to secure my tool box for work. You can see that the spare tire lid doesn't close correctly. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1053.jpg And I let my driver front door panel soak in 303 protectant for a few hours but it still doesn't match the darker dash from the limited. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1047.jpg Lighted lower section added but not wired yet. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1052.jpg
  15. Thanks! Thanks but I figured it out, plus i ripped the wires out from the part under the tape. I started working on wiring up my JDM headlights today but it turns out the 9007 male plugs I received are not what I need for this car. It has a different connector. I may just solder bullet connectors to the headlights and engine bay harness. I did polish up the passenger side light. It only had a little haziness on the top but there were some scuffs from shipping that aren't seen very well in the pic. BTW my poor bumper makes me sad. They are still available to order from Subaru according to a dealership I called but that is a long way off. Before: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1039.jpg After: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1041.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_1042.jpg
  16. I haven't done anything the last couple of days but I did order male 9007 male plugs for the JDM projectors to wire up to the stock harness. I also ordered a gallon of 303 protectant because it works really well! I plan on soaking all of my interior trim in it. Next big step to restoration will take place after I get my bonus check in march. I will be replacing the front windshield, fixing the rust at the top of the windshield, repainting the roof, painting the hood vent and mirrors white and taking the rear hatch off the Limited and painting it white. I will be deleting the badges in the rear and filling in the holes for the Legacy logo. Hopefully one day I can properly rate an STI emblem in its place:)
  17. Is this what you are looking at? http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/Screen%20Shot%202017-02-05%20at%206.48.01%20PM.png I've checked all the srs/airbag fuses and connections but I'm still getting the airbag and cel light. I know that I missed the ground for the radio so I'm about to pull the console and find it. Here are my pics from yesterday: Big color difference http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0951.jpg I took pictures for reference to help me putting my harness in the new dash http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0949.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0947.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0953.jpg Yeah! no more ashy white dash. Now my center radio trim, ac vents, glove box and lower driver side dash are still gray and look out of place. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0954.jpg
  18. found out why i stripped it...using a T25 instead of the T27. Anyways, I checked the other car and the order is blue, brown, green but I'm still getting an airbag light and flashing CEL.
  19. Thanks. I found the diagram but it doesn't show what color the wires are. And i stripped one of the torx head screws in the legacy L so i cant get the airbag out to see:(
  20. Good idea. I forgot the Legacy L is a 97 also. The limited is a 99 and has a different wiring setup.
  21. Right on. Okay so is this all of the possible combinations? The list seems kind of short. I've tried every combination but the light is still on. I wonder if the airbag screws need to be screwed in for the light to go off if I found the right combination? Blue Green Brown Blue Brown Green Green Blue Brown Green Brown Blue Brown Blue Green Brown Green Blue
  22. I have tried two configurations so far and I'm just getting air bag light. I'm starting the car from the side of the steering wheel just in case. I figured it out. It was the fog light switch. it was just tucked down in the wrong spot. The part that is ripped out is usually taped up to help prevent what happened to me. I followed your advice and am soaking some parts. It's really working well! http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0946.jpg
  23. Thanks for the heads up. I swapped the airbags so my car has the same airbag but with the new cover. You are right, the connector is completely different. I also swapped the entire harness over so my car has its original dash harness. I'm still working on putting it back together... I do have a random plug that I'm not sure where it goes? http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0956.jpg And I accidentally ripped the airbag leads out. I need to figure out what order they go in. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0955.jpg
  24. I spent about an hour tonight sanding and polishing the center garnish, now I just have the new heads and tails to do:/ http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0940.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0941.jpg I did the light bulb change out on the HVAC controls as well...I got a little carries away and wanted to clean everything up really good. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/Subaru%20Outback/IMG_0942.jpg Tomorrow, my buddy is coming over and we will be swapping out the dash with the one from the Limited. I need to look at and clean up the part that redirects the AC to where it needs to go. Most of the time I have to slam the dash with my hand to get it to change so I know the motor for it is working. Its probably built up with 20 years of crud so hopefully cleaning everything will get it working properly again
