  1. The 97 and 98 base Outbacks that i've had do not have a plug for the courtesy lights. I plan on doing what Brighton did and tying them into the dome light. I've already tied my map lights to the dome light so that they do whatever the dome light does. You might want to switch to leds so that the draw is less than with halogens.
  2. I got a lot of work done on the car this weekend and i got to do it with a subaru mechanic at a subaru dealership! Gates timing belt kit TCKWP277AN Perrin lightweight crank pulley New front driver axle EDM auto shifter with power mode button. Still need to wire it up Front and rear diff flush Freon charged NGK spark plugs and new wires I discovered that my alternator has a bad bearing so I ordered a 130amp Tribeca alt to go on. The stock fusible link is only good for 85 amps still so i will run a parallel 4ga wire directly from the battery to the alt.
  3. Had the car paint corrected and ceramic coated. I had him put Xpel film on the headlights, spat faces and on the rear bumper pad as well.
  4. New inner and outer tie rods, front sway bar and ball joints are on. Definitely my least favorite project so far. The bushings that came with the swaybar do not fit properly so i need to figure out what to do. I lowered the front another 1/2" and got an alignment. I got a replacement remote and programmed it with no issues. here's how she sits now. I'm going to order some 10-15mm spacers and extended lugs for the rear next. I have a slight metal to metal sound coming from the front driver brake. I think (hope) it might be dust shield.
  5. I'm in the process of doing mine. The driver side took a ton of work. I bought a 3' crowbar and two pickle forks. I was able to get the top part out by prying on the control arm and had to use a ball joint press to get it out of the LCA. The passenger side came out no problem with the crowbar and a pickle fork on the LCA side.
  6. I went to get an alignment and they told me i needed some new inner tie rods...so i ordered moog inners and boots and the Whiteline outers and front swaybar...Now I'm looking into an 04 sti rack. I went to a local subaru dealership to get my driver seatbelt warrantied and found a fellow 2nd gen enthusiast who is a mechanic there. I will be bringing the car to him so that we can install the timing belt kit, flush the diffs and install the EUDM auto shifter I have at the beginning of June. This is the only way to have the shifter surround with pop up pocket and card holder as the shifter is offset vs the usdm one that is in the middle. Also this shifter has the power mode button and will get wired up. Also, I've finally started driving the car and I love it. I can't wait to get the new tierods on and get an alignment. And the EUDM shifter and surround I just want to add that I figured out the problem here. I found some stripped wires where the hatch harness goes through the boot into the hatch and it turns out the brake lights and reverse light wires were in contact with each other. I taped them up and now the back up camera functions properly.
  7. The powerstops came with the brackets and mounted up with no issues!
  8. Everything was included in this kit. I just had to drill and tap a new hole which wasn't a problem. Haha Thanks guys! So, the last of the current mods are finally completed and i lowered the car 1/2"! Car is getting an alignment tomorrow and I'm getting a new driver seatbelt under Subaru's lifetime seatbelt warranty as well. PowerStop 02-07 WRX front brakes Powerstop 3rd gen Legacy rear brakes StopTech SS brake lines for 02-07 WRX Whiteline Endlinks Whiteline rear laterals Whiteline rear sway bar Whiteline rear sway bar mounts Zero/Sports muffler
  9. In the garage! i am not the person to ask. i cut my holes so big trying to get it lined up. I do recommend cutting off the front pieces and using double sided tape. that will make things a lot easier. I found a guide on sli or here that might be helpful to you. heres some pics of the completed trunk area 3rd gen hood struts. I had to drill some holes and tap them for the lower mounts and it turned out nicely. And some pics with my truck.
  10. Getting the car back together is slow going. I got a new reverse camera license plate frame. The wire that i tapped into on the passenger kick panel for reverse trigger works but it triggers the camera mode on the radio whenever i hit the brakes as well. I decided to just run a wire directly from the lead coming off the reverse bulb in the hatch all the way to the radio to be sure it works correctly. Painted the side panels and floor of the trunk and cut out the strut tower covers for the Zero Sports strut bar. Zero Sports front strut bar installed
  11. Thanks! i got my headliner dyed (6 cans), put a driver side grab handle in (holes were already threaded just needed to modify the headliner), installed the 1999 Infiniti i30 auto dimming mirror(did not wire it up) and received a Weathertech rear floor liner!
  12. Thanks!! The led bulbs use so much less power than the halogens the car was designed for. the computer thinks that bulb is out because of that and causes the hyperflashing. You will need the led blinker relay that i linked a page or two ago. Wow thank you! haha nice! So heres a list of whats up next (I need a list for myself lol) 1. Remove front door trim and realign it. 2. Wire up front door courtesy lights 3. Dye headliner and entire trunk section (duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye should be here monday) 4. Install powerstop brakes and stainless lines 5. INstall whiteline rear swaybar, endlinks and control arms 6. Install Zero Sports muffler 7. Set up appointment with local subaru dealership to get my driver seat belt exchanged under their lifetime warranty 8. Install EUDM shifter assembly with pop up card holder and pocket. (coming in the mail from Switzerland) 9. Install forester leather ebrake handle 10. Do timing belt and fluid change 11. Drive the car! I've only put about 70 miles on it since buying it in September Heres an update from yesterday. I got a new windshield put in along with new trim, wiper arms, wipers, 3rd gen spray style washers and amber leds for the turn signal and turn assist lights. Not sure how i feel about the turn assist being amber but i like that the both match.
  13. today I got the fender liners back on and the front spats mounted along with getting the side markers wired into the turn signals. I ordered amber leds for the turn signals and turn assist bulbs to match the side markers.
  14. Well the car is back from paint! Looks a lot better than it did but its still not exactly perfect up close. oh well, its my dd work car. Next up is wiring up the side markers, and finish putting the car back together. Then its brakes, whiteline parts and muffler. I think I've decided on dying my carpet and headliner black. I ordered Duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye but I'm still researching what the best solution is for carpet. I might lower the front just a little bit more. I got the retrofits all wired up and they came out looking perfectly flat! Also new Zero Sports front strut bar! I didn't realize i was buying a brand new part so I'm pretty excited about that
  15. The relay needed is posted in the post above yours. Also, painter fixed a bunch of issues and I’m picking the car up tomorrow! Annnnnndd I ordered some brand new morettes:) it will take a few months because they don’t keep them in stock but I can’t wait. They will be painted to match the car. 18. Thanks guys! I'm having the painter redo the car...actually after seeing it again, he said he wanted to make it right. He has it back again but this time i took off the windshield trim so that he could paint underneath since he didn't do that to begin with. I ordered new side and upper molding and will be getting a new windshield as well. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/VkM9P4A5SAau2PAzwIuhqw.jpg I also got some JDM door handles today! They are the wrong shade so I will be looking for darker ones to match better. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/fullsizeoutput_2f80.jpeg
  19. hopefully this week! http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/CPzRb23tTIu4JzKY7jRSQ.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/GUuWAZiQD6Fq74QghSQ.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/s7hwO04IR0Cbm9sAv2agg.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/PKDWYFKQja4eLYBJaHEA.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/RtFHem2Sg2mIKAsaIsYmA.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/mtv4IlcmTduIj6aPOelsQ.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/SCqsZ4lETqGPzXQxbnx8A.jpg

  21. Thanks! Well the car is still in paint until next week but i got my JDM projectors retrofitted with some FXR 3.0s. Not sure how parallel the cutoff will be from the ground but there really wasnt much wiggle room in the mounting brackets. This is the mounting bracket https://custom-brackets-designs.myshopify.com/products/copy-of-1995-1999-subaru-legacy-jdm-fx-r-3-0-retrofit-c-bracket-1 http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/qgef3QzbQWkSM4YCP69Q.jpg I used some nuts and washers to space out the projector to clear the plastic clips for the adjustment screws. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/v1NRyF3UQcyIPZUO5SlDQ.jpg Had to trim here to clear the adjustment screws http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/W3FsOSNBSKmmalJb1Gr3Ag.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/jBaz8SdTR1qfKftowgbFKg.jpg Installed http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/IMG_1987.jpg Finished! looks a lot better without the orange bulb in the corners. I'm going to take these to the place that did my wheels for them to professionally restore them and spray PPG clear coat for headlights. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/2vVqoBrSTiCdqyNnWgfw.jpg Got all new clips and gaskets for the grille, backup camera that will be installed in the wiper delete cap, new hatch striking plates and a ceramic coating kit for the wheels. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/5x74kZECSta3eqpxUaO4A.jpg I got matching 3900K lights for the corner and turn assist in the JDM fog lights. Also matching 5k led for the projector in the fogs. I don't care about output on these, i just need them to match the 5500k HIDs in the headlights. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/VQM7OXldSzG12Ybr5ylEew.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/h1MwFGOIQcyitfEbrUo3w.jpg Chargespeed convex mirror overlays! I cracked one of my new mirrors trying to prep them for paint so i got these. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/uxyXFQ7SbuHa0qG3MnsLw.jpg New Rays lug nuts with locking lugs http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/f5PuaL8QShKl5ZkwOqORQ.jpg And a Zero/Sports rear strut bar http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/RWEflRD8TRaeOCkkfZiLNQ.jpg
  22. I bought a wrecked 99 limited just for the interior. I hate to tell you but those seat are not black at all. They are very much gray. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/fullsizeoutput_2bf9.jpeg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/97%20Outback/IMG_0839.jpg
  23. I think he means 2nd gen outback not legacy. Are those gray or black? I'm wondering if they match the 2nd gen gray leather.
  24. I wasn't able to find a decent walkthrough on mounting usdm/jdm side skirts so here's what i did. 1. Place tape over the top of the skirt at every side mounting point and use a sharpie to draw a line exactly where it will go. 2. Use C-Clamps to hold the skirt at the pinch weld and tape the top to the door jams 3. Push up on the skirt and continue the line drawn on the tape onto the car and outline the edge of the skirt around each vertical line. 4. Outline the lower mounting holes to be drilled and tapped. (stock mounting hardware for the bottom utilizes a square opening which i have no way to make) 5. Remove skirt and measure down 25mm from each vertical line and drill a hole. Ill update this later with the drill bit i used. 6. Drill holes in the middle of each of the lower mounting points. You could use some plastic fasteners as well. 7. I tapped them all with an 8mm tap and got all new stainless bolts and washers. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/9IQTqIIEREGoMhfSLmBbIw.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/LeC0SbYQhCC4ue0j1xmg.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/U04E9fVcQ0uSF0llMIXfAg.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/8643DFB8-98C8-413D-90A4-3E04333C5D19.jpg
  25. I dropped the car off for paint on Wednesday! Here are some pics of taking everything apart. I also dropped my wheels off at a shop for restoration and got them back. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/piUcM8FYR1CnasvnFPwgPw.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/bY9jGiGhTbKa3X9ONsMi4Q.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/ONXSDWAGQoaaLc0UaOCZRA.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/iaccICK4TqaTwBfsC2WRA.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/0k36hulSHyEjezwuKCPQ.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/WbSzKlmeQOmJ5wY0wah9A.jpg Before: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/C5nKeB7SJCRQyDuRlNHRw.jpg After: http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/IMG_1969.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu48/eocullins/1998%20Outback/68189710-E3EB-4D13-BB78-9414444CC56F.jpg
