  1. My WRX is an 02 and I bought it new! I guess this is what getting old looks like.
  2. Fixed my misfire issue (until it comes back) - it was an ignition coil. It seems that the # 1 and 3 coils can't take the heat because they are right over the uppipe. So when the car heat soaks, it affects the right bank more than the left. I guess it makes sense, same happens for the valve cover gaskets. About 20K on the Cosmo Racing coils before they start misfiring. Heads up there. I just replaced the one cylinder with one of the stock ones I took off when I switched to the Cosmo coils, and misfire was gone upon first start. Seems pretty conclusive to me.
  3. Interesting. So they agree that OEM injectors aren't worth tuning once they get old (serviced or not)? Interesting because I've been chasing a misfire that seems to be getting worse, and I HAVE changed injectors, but I changed them with serviced OEM. I've also changed pretty much everything else related to fuel/air/spark. I guess I'll have to add new OEM injectors to my list.
  4. Most Autozone-type auto parts stores have slide hammers on their list of Loan-A-Tool tools.
  5. I've used a Rock Auto reman steering rack on my WRX. I don't remember who branded it, maybe Dorman? It was a few years ago and it's been totally fine.
  6. I did exactly that with my WRX in 2005 - I got replacement headlights, and Lamin-x film over them. They're still clear to this day! Highly recommended.
  7. Jr tuned? That's why. He gets huge numbers out of these motors.
  8. That's great! At least you're getting tuned!
  9. If you want it louder, do the Hogzawst washer mod on the mufflers. It makes the car louder while not droning, and it's free, so if you don't like it just go back to how it was. But it'll make the car louder as per the request. As mentioned, the downpipe will make you hear the turbo more. Intake stuff is a can of worms. But if you want to go there, from what I recall, the SPT cold air intake is a nice piece and really makes the turbo more audible, but it definitely needs to be tuned. And as I recall, they aren't the easiest intakes to tune, so you may run into driveability problems because of it. Btu this is very old info, from back when they were new. I'm sure tuners have figured them out by now.
  10. That wouldn't be much fun for me - I'd hop on the 5 and go... 5. Then I'd eventually get to the 2 and go 2. But for me, it's less about the decreased traffic, which there is a HUGE difference, but more about how cheap the gas is!
  11. There are mods for the FPCM. Im not suggesting you mod yours, but these threads may shed some light on the current path from the ECU (or battery) to the fuel pump: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fpcm-wiring-upgrade-relay-staying-switched-w-key-off-242295.html https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fuel-pump-control-module-143860.html
  12. I'd imagine they would send an email confirming that they received your injectors. So I'd agree that they probably haven't gotten them. Please keep up posted if anything changes as I need to send out a set of injectors to get cleaned and tested. I was choosing between Witchhunter and Deatschwerks. Was leaning towards Deatschwerks.
  13. When I lived in Boston, I would go to a parking garage for things like that. To hold the string, I used jack stands, and for slip plates, you can stack a bunch of plastic grocery bags under the front tires and they will move freely. If I was in Brooklyn, I'd look at the parking lots near the water in the Redhook area.
  14. Agreed. It's not the camber that wears the tires, it's the toe, which you can string in your driveway. I've run -2 degrees all around on my street car for years without any weird wear. Just keep an eye on the toe settings.
  15. NEO Synthetics HP800. It's pricey, but a small tub will last you forever. I've had a tub for the last 15 years. I'm finally getting to the bottom of it. I grease everything with it, and that's it. You only need to grease it once and it's good for about as long as an aftermarket part lasts. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1788/3745/products/neohp800.jpg?v=1495061011
  16. Now that crude oil is at historically low prices, has anyone started seeing coupons for motor oil yet? I'm appreciating the lower prices at the pump!
  17. Damn, that looks good! But no turbo+MT option keeps me away from newer Outbacks.
  18. Out of curiosity, have any of you noticed that they reduce wind noise at all?
