  1. LGT is starting to leak from the valve covers so I should probably fix that before winter and the rust is starting to appear on the passenger rear wheel arch. But other than that the car continues to run great. Probably going to do a little service here before winter comes just so I don't have to smell oil. Fall is here as well so I took the Wrx out to run errands this weekend
  2. So Gridlife round 5 didn’t go so well as I got sick with what we are calling ” superaids” leading me to drive home Saturday around 2pm and sleep for around 14 hours. As of today I am still not 100% back to feeling normal but I am getting there. Gridlife was fun for the short time I was there , the first session at 9am and a ton of standing water so that means skids. Unfortunately I am an idiot and forgot my SD cards as they are sitting at my computer so I had no onboard video of said skids. Oh I also dropped a tire and spun out at turn 2 on Gingerman due to getting too cocky with my ken block inspired drifting. Future plans are looking a lot like time attack in Gridlife’s street car class with some 255 RE71Rs So I can chase Dewey and my friend Max. Other winter plans are as follows Rebuild the Ohlins coilovers and possibly have them revalved Put the interior back in the car Install sound deadening products all over the car Upgrade the horrible oem speakers for louder Eurobeat Acquire another set of 17×9 wheels , I am thinking 17×9 +49 Wedsport TC105n Install a surge tank / Radium solution to fix fuel starvation issues Spec C roof vent Have the car re calibrated on carberry flex fuel Maybe a 2015 STi steering rack ? Maybe a moroso oil pan ? Save for a house or Condo Sleep a lot
  3. Ohlins are quite good even with only 7k/5k springs Stil can firm them up more
  4. Gridlife round 5 didn't go as planned as I got sick after two sessions and then spent Sunday sleeping. Oh well there is always next year and I am tossing around the idea of running time attack. Over winter its time for sound deadening , 255 RE71R and some new street wheels like perhaps 17x9 +49 Wedsport TC105n with 255 Continental Sports.
  5. Wandered out to the speed ring this weekend because it was like 5 miles from where I live and saw some pretty fast race cars. Its kinda amazing that the Canadian STi's are super fast compared to a lot of the cars we have in the midwest and they seem to have the formula for building a fast track car down quite well. Both of these cars would destroy their classes at Gridlife time attack and are very well built with the blue car revving to over 9000 with a custom EJ25 setup and custom oil pickup. After the event I went over to my friend garrets house to do some Gridlife prep work and install the oil temperature sensor. Its more of a pain to use the rear galley next to the turbo on a GD engine because there is a coolant line in the way that runs to the throttle body to help with cold starts but on Garrets Version 4 EJ20k it was not there and took like half the time to install. First picture is during startup and the second picture is after a nice 20 minute drive down twisty roads and two highway onramps later. The S204 / Spec C oil cooler thermostat seems to open around 180 degrees and stabilize oil temperatures. I am going to set the alert to kick in a round 245 - 250 degrees so that I will know to take a cool down lap then come into the pits. His dad has a 1/190 2005 Legacy GT Limited 5mt wagon too which is super rare and the 2006 STi is currently for sale.
  6. I have had two sitting on the shelf for years now I just have not put them in as I don't drive that much anymore so my oil changes are maybe twice a year on the legacy and once or twice on the Wrx.
  7. Did a general inspection and oil change on the lesbianwagon in the 92 degree heat this weekend it was not too much fun. But the car is in great shape and only consumed half a quart of motul over 4400 miles. Unfortunately due to roasting my hands I was unable to get a sample to send to Blackstone labs , Oh well next time. Items for the next two weeks are to get the wrx ready for Gridlife round 5 so I can go dunk on my friends Version 4 Sti swapped 1998 RS2.5 !
  8. Swapped to Ohlins coilovers this weekend and installed the Sti option short shifter. Getting an alignment this weekend. http://i.imgur.com/OQl8Ec9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YTrPIcr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qCJiZhs.jpg
  9. Ohlins coilover install this weekend and a few pre Gridlife round 5 preparation items http://i.imgur.com/EyUGIqB.jpg
  10. suspension setup #6 is on the way , I don't think it will change much after this because all the other options are in the $4000+ range http://i.imgur.com/UXfDZxa.jpg
  11. Went to a local cars and coffee last weekend that caters to all the local automotive people with none of the idiots that normally come with these types of events. Then did lunch with our local group of Subaru owners. http://i.imgur.com/hbQ1744.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zuVOzoa.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4wt4A61.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Pz1Mola.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ugj0rXh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nD6ou6D.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fbSxnEn.jpg
  12. Oil tests from the Wrx and the Legacy ! Turns out redline can go for way longer intervals , Perhaps even the entire summer with how I drive. http://i.imgur.com/uVnh7Me.png http://i.imgur.com/WB0Gj77.png
  13. Wandered out to Spartan Stadium in Lansing for a wedding with the Legacy and it rolled over 143,000 miles during the trip. People seem to have all sorts of issues with these cars but when maintained and given regular oil change intervals they seem to be perfectly fine. Literally the only downside so far is the sub 25mpg fuel economy. http://i.imgur.com/ToqiDQE.jpg Z28 Camaro with transit tabs http://i.imgur.com/hRz185n.jpg I also found my interior for the Wrx stored up in my parents garage when I visited , hopefully I can get that back into the car after some additional sound deadening soon. http://i.imgur.com/e4KV6Hu.jpg
  14. That would just be called a legacy and yes there is a dual avcs ecu for it they are like $50 on ebay but have an immobilizer. Dual AVCS , Wiring pinouts appear to be the same with the addition of exhaust side AVCS wiring. So its essentially the same process as swapping an EJ207 into a 2002-2005 usdm Wrx of running AVCS wiring. Also have the issue of mating the jdm ecu to the immobilizer in your usdm LGT.
  15. Excellent Eric Z and Clint are awesome , I will miss Kent in the office as well. They are more on the expensive side but they are one of maybe a dozen shops in North America that I would feel safe leaving my car. This was my Wrx at TIC getting corner balanced two years ago http://i.imgur.com/faaAjeX.jpg
  16. Over the next year I plan on transforming the car from more of a weekend track car to an all around performer like the Stubaru. Spring rates are going to change along with a quieter exhaust and sound deadening to make the Wrx into a track ready summer daily driver. I am still going to keep the Legacy to drive during winter and on days I don't feel like driving a manual. The end goal is a car that still weights under 3200 pounds yet is track capable , quiet on the street and enjoyable to drive to work. I also want to start saving for some sort of BMW M car or a Porsche , ideally a Cayman S or E39 M5.
  17. So it seems the car is going to take another turn as I drove it for four days straight and over 200 miles. I really enjoy driving it but its still a little harsh for our horrible Michigan roads. So now it seems we are going to go about making an S20X wagon but with more luxury. Were talking power folding mirrors , Recaro sportster style seats , automatic AC and sound deadening all over. This can all be done while keeping the car under 3200 pounds due to weight reduction in the bumper beams and suspension components. Suspension spring rates will likely be dropped down to 7k/6k or possibly even lower pending advice from Turn in concepts. The car will still be very track capable so essentially the goal is to make a very well rounded car that can see use in all the nice weather months from April to October while not spending $1000s to become time attack competitive. That way I can also save for one of my dream cars which is an E39 BMW M5. http://i.imgur.com/QXO5kyN.jpg
  18. I had no choice but to drive the wrx into work today These AST coilovers are amazing even on our horrible roads. http://i.imgur.com/9YjVnmp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FgMTwRQ.jpg
  19. 80 + people out for the holiday means VIP parking at work http://i.imgur.com/WtItrWn.jpg
