  1. Here is another method: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/broke-my-camshaft-gear-241321.html?p=5155566#post5155566
  2. Same here, I'm at 269,000 now and starting on a road trip later this afternoon.
  3. You got lucky avoiding #YNANSB. That bearing looked to me initially as antifreeze damage. That was from my ancient memory. But after researching I think:
  4. Luckly the Outback owner was inside the shop checking on a new short block:lol: Subaru A pillars FTW.
  5. This seems to be a good place for this. After losing a rod bearing I disassembled the VVT sprockets to clean out the debris. Afterwards I had a P0018 code after running awhile. It turned out the variable cam timing sprocket on bank 2 had bound up on the cam. I noticed when I assembled the sprocket to the cam it didn't slide easily on to the cam. The 2 bores of the sprocket can be assembled non-concentric. I removed the cam and disassembled the sprocket, reassembling using an old cam to assure the concentricity. So far so good.
  6. I'm sure this has been discussed but I haven't found the correct search. Has anyone thought of a community lifter collection. I have 10 lifters after doing my engine that I would be willing to swap out for different sizes (the person needing the lifter would send their trade ins' and pay the shipping). Just a thought.
  7. ^^ Those are probably reference numbers, the actual part numbers can be found in the list below the diagram.
  8. Maybe this : http://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_2005_Legacy25L-TURBO-5MT-4WD25GTOUTBACKXT-SEDAN/_54100_6028418/POWER-STEERING-SYSTEM-FITTING/B13-346-01.html

  10. 235,000 mi on my 2005, rebuilt the turbo due to oil consumption last weekend. The power steering is noisy on the cold mornings, a lot of those this winter.
