  1. Normally the insurance should cover the recalibration because it's a safety feature in the car. I would have the winshield repair company push the Insurance Adjuster. I've replaced 4 in mine and had to go around n around with my insurance and finally they caved.. and Actually they cover other cars that require calibration and have written in there Windshield policy to cover Calibration.

Cool, I’ll reach back out to let them do it. I love everything about the Legacy but the windshield is the absolute worse part of owning that car

  2. So I’ve got a giant crack in my windshield. This is probably the seventh time I’m about to replace this windshield. So anyhow, I was wondering if it’s possible to replace the windshield with an aftermarket one versus going OEM. Installer said I wouldn’t need to do recalibration based on their installation method. Any thoughts? I haven’t scheduled anything yet.

  3. I would love to get the spoiler. Where did you get it?

https://www.subispeed.com/part/cr-17imp-oes-carbon-reproductions-oe-sport-style-spoiler-2017-impreza-4d#.YPAonRgpB-E It looks like it's currently out of stock bit they should get more in. Word of caution, it does not lay flush to the trunk so you will have to drill into your trunk hood.

  4. Finally got around to washing my car, didnt get to wax it. Re-wrapped my trunk lip( I cannot remember the specific name of this section). This is my second attempt because I didnt like my first go around. I managed to wash 1 of my rims before the thunderstorm rolled through. I think since my last post:

    -Redid my tint to 5%

-redid the back Subaru logo and made it 3x bigger, had some other logo work done

    -installed rain guards

-had my side mirrors painted black(not done by me)

    -put some door overlays on the car;

-put in those reflectice door handle scratch protectors but I've yet to see it actually do anything. However, I just found some JDM OEM carbon fiber ones; I'll get those soon.

-attempted to wrap my front grill. It wasn't bad but I didnt like the end result. If I attempt to use it again, I'll use the tape roll instead of the full sheet. Redid the grill using Dioyourcar Hydrodip Kit. I might need to re do it again.

-I thought about wrapping my roof but the fin has me thinking about not doing it.

-still on the fence about coilovers, just haven't found a set that I really love.

-Finally debadged the trunk; I've learned that 100% acetone (the nail polish remover one) and 100% isopropyl alcohol removes that glue stuff the best.

Hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the holiday.6df75aed034d917534a789e1d259ec7e.jpg5a02e41dfaef3aae981c5b46bc55e9ce.jpg

  5. Jesus Christ! You got ripped off, man! Did they use OE?

Yes, that they did. The only thing that sucks with this dealer is that they charge full price for OEM whereas I've been able to get very good prices ordering from other Subaru dealers online but I'm not worried about the price, I'm just glad for the peace of mind.

It does NOT make sense. There's no way ANY place changing the oil would disconnect the battery for funzies.

It runs good now. Got its pep back. So I have no clue what's really causing it. I don't hear any funny noises coming from the car and no codes pop up on the screen.

They'll just look at you with a blank stare, most likely. They may also just agree, not knowing what TF you're talking about...

I'll get a second opinion on this and see if I hear something different.

  6. I second this. Anytime I disconnect the battery for work or flash a retune the car has to relearn throttle and calibrate. My tuner confirmed that it was normal.

On the other hand when my GF goes in for just an oil change on her WRX, it always feels more happy and willing to her...likely because they are NOT disconnecting the battery.

I'll definitely let the dealer know next time not to disconnect the battery. Actually I'm going to take it to a separate dealer and test that theory, but that's going to be a while from now.

  7. I was surprised to read your post because I have always "imagined" that my vehicles ran better after a service. I say "imagined" because I had no proof either way, and in reality it was just an imagined "feel good" thing. After reading your post I Googled "loss of power after oil change" and was again surprised at the amount of others who seemingly agree with you. I didn't read all of them, but it appears that many posters were on the "oil overfill bandwagon" ..... but for what it is worth, one reply that I did read seemed to make a bit of sense ... " It's possible that your mechanic disconnected the battery while doing his work. If so, it might take the DME a little while to relearn optimal fuel/ignition parameters ..."
That makes sense then usually after a "while" then the power comes to what it was before the oil change. And I'm starting to dislike the Red Optima batteries now. It's what I currently have and I'm not impressed.

  8. I’ve gotta say it’s fun to race around even if it means more maintenance..... my SyncUP drive logs for me each trip its fun to beat your time on a trip. The dev also gives me WiFi been thinking of finding a way to put a tablet in my car that looks clean.

[emoji1787][emoji1787] I thought I was bad. No lie though our car is slow as heck but soo fun to drive. People look at me crazy but I love my car. The things you've done to your car is very impressive too.

  9. I like your "realistic" attitude" .... in that you "drive hard" and are not seemingly totally surprised when components need replacement. It prompted me to think about a couple of things. Firstly, forums like ours (and others) often tend to hear about component failures from the " vocal minority" of users ... because the "silent majority" are usually happy with their vehicles. That's not to say the opinions and information from the aforermentioned minority are not genuine, or of value, but there is a danger that their "minority" concerns are taken as being applicable to all vehicles of whatever models are under discussion.

And the second thing that comes to mind with your comments, is the often heard statement that if cars are driven conservatively then they will last so much longer than those that are driven hard. For example Scotty Kilmer (who is not always correct, but is generally pretty entertaining [emoji38]) often talks about certain vehicles (and CVT transmissions) as being "endless money pits" but he says if you drive them "like a Grandma" then they can possibly still last a long time. I am a very conservative driver (I don't like being referred to as a "grandma" but if the shoe fits ;)) ... but I do manage to get mine on the highway at least once a week to give it a decent run.

I'm hoping that my driving style will give me many more years of trouble free ownership. :icon_mrgr

I totally agree; I mean cars are meant to be driven. Your car will last as long as the care you give it. It's good that you take it out at least once a week on the highway. It does the car more good than bad. I hope you're not that driver that just cruises and holds up the fast lane lol.

  10. also i wish i got air suspension sometimes, oh well....3c1e67d65fae8520b7d4f09d84a3203a.jpg

picture quality is terrible on this website

Now you need to tint those windows. You should look into the air suspension, I'm seeing more that's available right now. Good gosh, I've seen so mant Honda Accords killing it in the aftermarket game. Sheesh our Legacy's get no love.

  11. I wasn't aware manuals were available for these cars...what market are you in?
Sorry I think you misunderstood me, I was referring to the 6th gen 2016-2019 legacy 3.6r models. We still have them here in the US if you can find one. They stopped making the 3.6r once Subaru switched the Legacy over to the new global platform for 2020.

  12. So I tested the latest Legacy XT. I have a 2018 3.6r.

I liked the new engine. I like the feel of how the turbo kicks in. Good to see the turbo model back. I think the car is a little quieter but the 3.6r was already pretty quiet. On the highway, the XT was really good. The turns are more defined on the XT although these recent legacies aren't known for their handling. It's a big car. I feel the suspension improvement.

While the overall XT interior is better than the 3.6r, I prefer the tactile control buttons on the media player. I also like the menus on the older 3.6r.

The exterior is better on the 3.6r. I don't like the new front grille. The front lights on the 3.6r is also better. The rear is also not as appealing on the XT. I'm not digging the rear lights on the XT models too. The wheels on the 3.6r look better.

I think everything was a pretty good upgrade except that exterior but not good enough for me to trade for the latest and greatest. Your thoughts on the latest legacy?

I totally agree, I can't stand the rear of the new Legacy XT. That turned me off when they originally unveiled it and then seeing it up close at the dealer, didn't change my mind. It's interesting to see how many 6th gen'rs have upgraded to the latest model. If I knew how to drive a manual, I'd get a 6th gen 3.6r or the new Outback XT as my next car.
