  1. Are there any other comparable exhaust options out there that will produce maybe a slightly more quiet tone, but still keep the growl?

I know we've had members with the Nameless Muffler Delete and the 4" muffler but I don't recall if I've heard any exhaust notes on our gen with a 5" muffler. That may be something to look into. This may have already been mentioned but I've been absent from the forum for a bit and there are far too many pages to sift through lol.

  3. I'm tempted to do an HID Kit conversion down the line. But I'm too scared. I need to do more research on everything.

Just put HIDs in today. Love the output, I just goofed up and got the wrong color. They're sending me out a replacement. Xenon Depot's Extreme HID Kit is VERY well made. Solid, easy to install. Well above my expecations.

  4. I have been searching the internet as well as the forums here and have been unsuccessful in finding out how to connect with the Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 cable to EcuFlash. It won't load any of the vehicles I select EXCEPT for the BRZ. It will load under that BRZ Vehicle Type setting but asks me to create a definition from scratch.

Does anyone know a clear way to connect to this properly or retrieve the ROM by any other means?

You're suppoed to use the "BRZ" setting

  5. Can someone give me a good idea of what a stock tune should run? All I have done at this point is add the K&N drop in and I'm decently impressed so I want more but I'm not trying to go full race tuning or trying to get the max out of the engine. I like to be able to pass and when the person realizes their being passed I don't want to have to punch it and draw to much attention to myself.

You can PM me with any questions or some of the other guys on here im sure would be willing to help.

  6. Exhaust came a few days early. I didn't know I was getting the mufflers but I'm happy I got them. Got it all for $100. I'm leaning towards the Nameless muffler delete but I haven't ordered anything else yet.

If I wanted to buy the hangars(or whatever they're called, the bushings connect the two) for the passenger side, where can I find them. I'm not getting this done at an exhaust shop, I'll be doing this myself. 09748284d6e7c4c7dc879e154fd9dd59.jpg0cdc1b0f47416320e1921146ebb3e2f2.jpg14e2994adc1a93d63543a882e2a8097e.jpgc54c36d30ba8e785d2648346339bfc22.jpg

You need to weld the hangers on and then the "bushings" connect the hangers from the exhaust to the hangers on the car. If you can weld just try to find something similar to the drivers side. If not, you'll have to bring it in.

  7. Followed the installation instructions. ECUFlash is hit or miss whether it will read the ECU or not. Was able to download a file, not sure if it is correct.

I know for me, ECU Flash doesn't communicate with the vehicle if Rom Raider is running in the background. Was Rom Raider running when you were trying to record/flash any logs?

  8. So Im not trying to be a jerk, but Im really curious. If your intent was to modify the car for performance, why did you buy a Legacy vice a WRX? The CVT equipped Legacy is a slug, even in H6 trim, it is a 15 second car. Why waste hundreds or thousands of dollars for a negligible gain in power?

I have a 4 year old handicapped child. I opted for the room of he Legacy over the WRX/STi. I put the intake in for a potential improvement in fuel economy. Never expected performance gains. Also with a handicapped child I assume you can imagine the cost associated with such so I opted for the $23,000 MSRP base model Legacy as opposed to the $28,000+ WRX/STi. Now I hope your question has been answered if it was in fact a legitimate question and not just an attempt to stir up shit for no reason.

  9. Where did you buy your crankcase breather hose/coupler to make the Takeda CAI fit? I am unfamiliar with this part, so I am not sure if Subaru has its own specific one or if you can just use any rubber hose that fits? I'd like to buy this intake but I want to make sure I can get this hose issue down first!

I just picked up a piece at a local auto part store with the coupler. This is what it looks like. Attaches to the intake piping a few inches away from the throttle body on the underside. My hose is fully seated on the coupler now and clamped to the intake, the picture was just for informative purposes. a0b41b95b21460369955e1650f319d0d.jpg

And this is it connected with the stock intake

  10. I know you have to extend it 5" or 5.5" and I'd need hangars. I have everything to do it. I can get it all done in my shop. I'm just asking if the axle back will line up with the mid pipe.

I know people have put the stock WRX cat back on, but they used the stock WRX mufflers not Legacy mufflers

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ohhh I got it. That is a damn good question!

  11. So I've been wanting to do this for a long time now and I found a WRX mid pipe for $150 (from what I've seen this is a really good deal). Theoretically speaking... if the WRX exhaust matches up to the hangers on our car then the WRX mid pipe with the nameless legacy axle back should match up perfectly correct?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

WRX is dual exit so their midpipe would be the "Y" shape I think. You have the 2.5i so there are no hangers on the passenger side. Also I believe there is a difference in the flange on the midpipe or possibly the length that doesn't allow it to marry up without modifying it.

  12. thanks for the quick replies, the email I received from AFE was that they didn't have a compatible part yet for the 2017. Were there many changes from 2015 to 2017 in the 3.6 model?

Post a picture of your engine bay from above without the cover. It's pretty easy to tell if it will fit. The most you may have to do is buy a small 3" section of hose and a coupler to extend the crankcase breather or just buy a whole new hose. Other than that it should fit like a glove.

  13. Thought I read on the forum that someone spoke to one of the people from AFE and they claimed that it wouldn't fit the 2017 (not sure if it was in regard to 2.5 or 3.6) and thought that something changed after 2016. Did anyone ever confirm if the person from AFE was mistaken or only stating that the hose was too short or something that could be simply fixed?

I know on my 2016 2.5i the crankcase breather was about 2-3" too short but that was it. Everything else was a direct fit.

  14. Hello All,

I am not the most mechanically savvy person, But i would like some advice about aftermarket mods for my 2017 legacy 3.6r. my first question is when searching for exhausts, cold air intakes is it correct in saying that if i search for either a 2015 or 2016 part that it will fit on a 2017 3.6R. i have a couple of shops that i have reached out to for axelback exhaust and the stated that they don't have any products that will fit my year and model. I have searched through most of the forum and i am a bit overwhelmed. I do appreciate all your support and knowledge. I even contacted AFE power for a cold air intake and they stated they dont have a model to fit my vehicle yet its listed as a plug and play mod.

thanks in advance for your input and i cant wait for all the negative responses about searching the forum, but i can handle it.

    ;):spin:

    Intake

Takeda Cold Air- TR-4304P. Says 2011-2014 I believe but it is a direct fit in the 3.6R. http://afepower.com/afe-power-tr-4304p-takeda-stage-2-pro-dry-s-cold-air-intake-system

    Exhaust

Nameless performance- Link below. Also says 2011-2014 but if im not mistaken, this is also a direct fit. https://shop.namelessperformance.com/2010-2014-legacy-gt-3-6r-axleback-exhaust/

There are a few mor options but these seem to be the most common. SSD peformance makes an intake as well but it specifies "2.5i only". Not sure what the difference is but the layout looks identical so it would most likely work. Not sure if anyone with a 3.6R has tried it. View the "Aftermarket Mods and Accessories" Sticky thread for more info.

  15. I don't see it as an attached but not a fair response to my customer service and high communication. It was never meant to be driven on so long, once an issue was detected. This is what I want any tester to be away off. I believe a day after told you about ignition. Then last Monday I told you about the missing 2 dbw maps. I never see any replies, except it's OK etc. Nothing in detail and then disappear.

Reviewing bbm, you have retract all msg in our conversation after the first release of the rom v0.

Thank you very much. It was nice working with you.and robbiegt.

6 days ago I told you about the problem 1st occuring (attached), 3 days later you realized you "missed" 2 maps (attached) with no offered solution until yesterday when you said "I have a new Rom for you". At that point I had already removed the ROM and decided it may not be in my vehicles best interest to proceed. I said you had great customer service and excellent response times so I'm not sure what you're saying isnt fair? I am unfamiliar with BBM so when you deleted me from the groups, I deleted the chat you left between me and you as it is not useful to me anymore. Not sure what a retract is?

Not sure why you're only mentioning one version of the tune because I received V0 and V1 from you. attached are emails with logs from both and feedback on both. I recorded and sent 2 logs, then you asked for feedback which I gave you immediately and then waited 3 days for a solution so there is no issue on my end with communication.

  16. I been messaging you since then for your input and to even notifying you I had miss 2 maps that deals with the DBW or throttle response. I was continuing developing the definition to support your model, but I never got a response back from you, until again I emailed you, concerned about the lack of communication.

I will only reply once as I don't want to flood this thread with meaningless back and forth conversations. As I said to you in my most recent email, I responded to all of your messages in a timely manner. By the time I had received your email in regards to missing 2 maps that were affecting my car and the driveability, I had already removed your rom from my vehicle. Just like I said in my email to you, this is not an attack. I think you are a great person and you are good at what you do and people like you and support you. I'm doing what I had said I would do from the beginning and that is a comparison.

  17. LATEST UPDATE****

At this point I am no longer tuning with West_Minist. The latest revision of the 2.5i tune I received seemed okay at first but after almost 2 weeks of driving I was forced to go back to my stock rom. It was as if the car required 1/2 throttle just to move. Was very sluggish and almost a potential danger during interstate merging. Unfortunately for Ed, I feel the lack of "in person" tuning options with the 6th Gen prohibits him from being able to maximize his own potential. Everyone else he deals with that has 5th gen and below, love what he is able to do but from what he has said the CVT in the 6th Gen is very frustrating and difficult to approach. I no longer wish to use my financial investment as a test subject due to recent events after my most recent tune. So in short my assesment is as follows:

    West_Minist (Ed)

    Quick email/Message response times

Provides networking with other customers for troubleshooting/informative purposes

Uses Team Viewer to help if you dont understand what needs to be done

Willing to talk on the phone to work through issues

Strong desire to make customers happy

Lack of 6th Gen in person availability/tuning

"expirement" tunes (for 2.5i 6th gen)

    not so stable tune

    Throttle Happy (Matt)

    Slow message response time

    No networking

In person tuning on 6th gen 2.5i and 3.6R

    No issues with tunes

    proven/customer confirmed improvements

    more stable tune

I AM NOT saying one is better than the other, this is simply my assessment of my personal experience of dealing with them both. My personal preference at this point is to deal with Matt because every tune I had received from him felt good, seemed stable and it makes me more comfortable knowing he has had the chance to tune the 6th gen in person on many occasions. Any questions feel free to let me know. Hope this will be helpful to someone!

    **EDIT**

This is from my experiences with the 2.5i only. For any info in regards to comparing the 2 with the 3.6R, contact RobbieGT.

  18. As I am reading the posts here, it's really getting me interested in switching and seeing the difference in the tunes.

He hasn't completely developed the 2.5 yet but I'm currently running a test map with some pretty good results thus far. He sent me a second one to test which I will be flashing in tomorrow.
