  1. I'm confirming I will be there.

I am in a good role at work so vacation days aren't too much of an issue for me, have 4 weeks and only a few blackout days at the beginning of a few months which would require me to work but even those days can be done working remotely.

My bigger concern is by Jan my wife has usually decided/planned where the family is going for vacation for the year so this needs to be set prior to that for me to be able to attend.

  2. I was just looking at Airbnb and there are more that a few available, I think we need to get solid number of who would want to go to another ECM next year and then we can look at houses that will accommodate the number people staying.  I have seen things from as high as 3k cad a night to as low as 400 cad per night.  Just depends if we want to have a pool or lake access, those without either of those cost less.

I will say if we are going to be in the 600us to 900us range for staying some place I would be ok with jumping on a flight to go to an all inclusive resort for a week in that same price range, but I will be good with whatever the group decides.

As long as it isn't in like... Florida. Because, eff that place anyway. (Sorry if you're from Florida and love it, but... eff Florida.)

I won't lie, I would love Finger Lakes, or anywhere in New England, it's not a long haul and there is wonderful beer and great windy roads all over.

But maybe if we keep on doing this we can alternate around the East Coast a little, up and down, inland/coastal. Make sure no one area is always stuck with a long drive.

Yea, been to florida.....don't want to do that drive.  But I do like the finger lake suggestion, as well as moving the meet each year so that the long haulers get a slight break on some of the trips in the coming years.

I do want to mention that I would be open to doing a non driving trip as a group.  Maybe fly somewhere and spend 4-7 days.  Like skiing in Colorado, or on a beach at a resort.

  4. This was an absolutely amazing trip!  Thanks to the whole ECM crew.  Good beer, lots of laughter, and even better company.  You are all welcome to come stay by me if you want to come for a visit north of the border, @m sprank I got you when you come out this way 😉.

The cruise down was epic thanks for driving down and back with me @KZJonny sorry for pushing you to speed a little too much, when we did slow down on the way back my fuel consumption went way down to 7.3L/100km and I still had just under a half tank when we parted ways which is crazy considering where we stopped to fill up.

It was soo good to put a username to a face and to spend time getting to know everyone that came out.  Such a great group of people, I wish you all weren't so nice though since my wife is now asking about where the next one will be.   My daughter will forget it all, but I will remember how you guys treated her like your own daughter, running around with her, playing catch and answering her silly questions/comments.

Our Sat. afternoon cruise was soo much fun, @SubOperator your son can drive and I suspect in a few years he will be faster than you.

For those I meet for the first time, and others that I had known for a while, you all made this a truly amazing experience and for that I can't thank you enough.

Never purchased a harness or bracket.  Always made my own.  Use a single pole double throw relay (12v coil).  OEM horn signal to the coil, 12v from battery to both poles and then to the Hellas. Ground off the Hellas to the rad core support.  Flat bar stock aluminum works for a bracket.  Can be shaped if necessary.  Paint flat black or use truck bed liner in a rattle can (preferred).

I was looking for less work not more, but I may go that route if I get some free time to do it.

Finshed up and tucked away the wiring.

Using a 12" peice of wood to throw the breakers, checked to see if I had power at the garage panel.

Indeed I do, and the smoke even stayed in the wires!

Business trip to Montreal this week, so I'll maybe be able to get after it again when I'm back on the weekend, and install some recs and lights, but we shall see. Be nice to find some extra hands to help tilt those lift posts vertical!

👋 you have help if you need it.

Yeah, that's why I was asking which one 😄

I can imagine going from USDM pre-facelift to JDM post-facelift would have different geometry and mounting points (at least shifted a bit).  I just wanted to clarify the context of which scenario we were talking about.

    All good bud

I was able to confirm even for usdm post-facelift to jdm post-facelift it doesn't really fit, some places are zip tied, and kind of tucked up under the lip to hold them in place.  That person only swapped on the jdm post-facelift bumper and is running usdm fenders & headlights with usdm fender liners and under tray.

I'm now running pre-facelift JDM headlights, brackets, and bumper (all '05).

I think the post-facelift swaps you have to do fenders as well, but you don't for pre-facelift.

😄 but you didn't do a post facelift swap, and that is what he is asking about.

There is a difference between pre-facelift and post facelift but I don't recall the USDM fender liners fitting correctly since I remember loosing a fender liner after doing that swap on my first legacy.

The bigger problem is when you are going from usdm pre-facelift to jdm post-facelift.  As soon you swap fenders and bumper the usdm fender liners and undertray no longer fit.  Now if you were going from usdm Post facelift to jdm post-facelift the fender liners and undertray may fit but I would need to check with a girl I know to see how it fits on hers and I can let you know.

That's a real good news for me, I might just try to swap in my 09 JDM Spec B front end before the trip then. Did not want to drive down with no fender liners and no undertray.

What about JDM headlights? How bad is the lights pattern without RHD to LHD conversion? I will do a proper conversion alter (have all parts) but with the time line pressing I might just try putting them on as is.

If you are even slightly lowered it will not be noticeable to oncoming traffic imo, but that could also be that my lights are aimed lower as to not blind on coming traffic as well.

I would say put them on line them up and lower them just slightly with the adjustment leveling knob and you should be fine.

    Are you referring to 05-06 pre-facelift or 07-09 post-facelift?

For my pre-facelift '05, I swapped in a JDM 3.0 Spec B front bumper and headlight mounts and was able to use the USDM fender liners and undertray (which was later replaced with a skid plate) and they fit just fine.

I went from 07 Pre-Facelift to 08-09 JDM facelift and the fender liners and undertray from the 07 definitely did not fit correctly with the JDM Facelift fenders/bumper.

It looks like from your pic you are using USDM headlights and fenders with a JDM facelift bumper, but there is a difference when running the Facelift JDM fenders/bumper

@KZJonnyThe oil filter fitment is due to the Killer B Holy headers w/ the factory cooler and sandwich plate. If all 3 are installed you'll have a hard time installing a longer filter or even the factory blue one. When I test fitted everything the OEM blue filter was literally touching the header.

I'll see if I can dig up the NASIOC thread but Killer B even states / recommends the delete of the factory oil if you add a sandwich plate adapter with their headers.

The only caveat for the cooler delete is you'll need to plug the port near the oil filter and cap the nipple off the water pump. For my rebuild, I requested that the shop install a new 08-14 WRX water pump. That specific pump does not have the extra nipple for the oil cooler.

This is correct.  An alternative is to use the newer 08-14 wrx oil cooler which has slightly better clearance and moves the filter slightly further away from the header

I am sorry to report that this is USDM...My cheap ass way of getting the front to be less "pointy". I need to do a lot more than expected of fussing to get the alignment right. Also a disappointment is the difference in ABP paint between 05 and 09.

I would assume the under tray still lines up and same-ish for fender liners. The bumper doesn't sit further back on JDM (my understanding) but rather it is simply just not as fat sticking out

On the USDM to JDM front end conversion, the fender liners don't fit perfectly and the under tray does not fit.  There is a slightly different shape to everything because the JDM bumper sits closer towards the front of the car.  The USDM fender liners can be used but the front bottom don't line up with the bumper, and the under tray does not fit either.

I am happy to help out in any way possible on the food front as well. I think Tyrone and I have one of the longer drives down to make it, and I do not own any reasonable sized coolers to keep food (meat and perishables anyway) cold and safe on the way down, but something like a pre-made coleslaw would be in a pH range that is safe for me to make a giant batch and bring down, for example.

In my little world, burgers are the king of food, so I am 100% behind that swap, if it might happen. I also don't eat chicken, lol! So, it means I could partake in the group feast.

I usually just eat freeze dried meals when I go camping, so anything that is a communal cook-up will be a treat. I'd be happy with hot dogs.

I can help with bring food down since I do have a cooler, maybe stop somewhere on the way down if need to grab things, or bring the plates, cups, cutlery or anything else that could be stored on a shelf.

Only dietary restriction would be that our family does not eat pork.  But good with everything else.  Just let me know what I can help with/contribute.

  14. So after receiving my rear caliper rotors which were back ordered, I decided to finish up my rear breaks and finally swap on my summer rims & tires.  The drivers side rear breaks went on easy.....the passenger side not so much.  Rounded one rear caliper bracket bolt and broke the other off in the the bracket.....FML.  @KZJonny came in clutch and had a spare caliper bracket and bolts that I grabbed from him last night.  Car is all set now.

Friday will be changing front and rear diff fluid.  Rear diff is going to get re-sealed since it is leaking.

Been on a hiatus cuz nothing really new is up with the legacy.... until now.

Got the Blitzen booklet of sleeves for your insurance and registration cards.

The door handle trims that you have are awesome, I have never seen them done like that before. didn't even know you could separate them from the door panels.

I also have carbon fiber Ebrake handle, door handles, vents, as well as the interior door open leaver/lock & steering wheel column covers, looking for the navigation/center vents in carbon fiber or faux cf just have not seen any so I may look into getting mine hydro dipped or try to find someone to overlay some carbon fiber over it.

Now I did see 08-09 Albero steering wheel buttons in carbon fiber last week, but they sold for 200, and I couldn't justify spending that on buttons knowing I would need to pull my steering wheel off and rewire the buttons.
