Show Us Pics of Your 5th Gen as It Sits!! V-2

Yeah I thought I remember the same. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
Like ass! I was a victim of the nameless dp. I'll try and keep it short and sweet. Had a few boost issues. First they installed the GS ebc backwards, caused it to spool poorly, fixed that, then they did a smoke test because spool was still off, found a boost leak on the intake side of the intercooler. Fixed that. Then after while it would intermittently spool perfectly then spool like shit. Spent hours with the tuner trying to figure out what's going on and why I was peaking at 7 psi at some points and 18 at another. Long story short, the internal waste gate was getting hung on top of the dp's inlet from heat expansion. By that time it was late and about time to close. When I took that thing off prior to the tune date, I manually operated the flap for a good 2 minutes very carefully listening and feeling if it was touching. It wasn't, not until it heats up to a point I guess. So I have to take it off again and make sure it stops doing that. They cut me a break and said I can come back when it's resolved and complete the tune. We had the car on the lift, put some pressurized air in there and could barely just make out the arm sometimes binding and not. I am so upset with this piece. It's a big waste of time for a lot of people. It seems more like luck getting it in the perfect sweet spot than just following directions for an install. But we've discussed this all through this thread so there's no point in going back into it. I am going to get it into position or trim that lip or something. I'm going to get this to work. I intend on making my way back there early to mid February. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

LGT Spark Plug Replacement
Starks replied to minuccims's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
This was not fun. The one closest to the driver is the one. Cut the harness clip, Rotate 180 degrees, and work every little available space. I'd suggest for that one either a short one inch extension or attach the socket knuckle right on the spark plug socket. Don't lift the engine. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -

Had ol girls legs in the air all weekend! Wife was gone for the long weekend and I had a long list of stuff to do before Dyno day Saturday. Dropped the turbo, welded O2 bung, fog lights, wiring, bpv, and ran the cabin wires for O2. I need to do plugs but no local shops had them in stock. I ordered them, guess I'll try this Friday. Hate to bump this again but just letting you guys know I put down a deposit for my community's group tune at revworks/M-tune next Saturday. Between then I'm going to get this O2 bung welded in, nameless bpv on, and AEM dry flow in. So soon, we'll see what this thing is made of and if porting helped. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

See, that's what I'm not liking. I'm about to add in an O2 bung on mine since it's already installed and thought about just removing the DP this time but I'm concerned about not finding that spot again when I put it back and end up having to take the whole thing off just to get it situated again. I would say some more about my dissatisfaction but I think it's been covered. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

So... The shop I was going with for the protune got knocked around by Irma. Definitely not getting tuned this month. So in the meantime I'm looking at other minor projects and even trying to reach out to local turbo shops to see if they can do something like bnr's 18g hybrid since they aren't doing any more unless group buy. Maybe I can get this dp off, tapped for O2, and reseated perfectly before the tune. Seeing it's clearance tolerances, I definitely don't want to take it off after the tune. Thanks for your insight. I haven't officially scheduled it but I plan on getting my protune next month. I'm optimistic but also trying to curb my expectations. I admire your perseverance through the whole thing though. Simple jobs that turn into nightmares are the worst. But hey, it's done! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

That's very disheartening that your ebcs is destroyed because English mounted it in a bad spot. Very strange to hear as well because on the Lancer platform I heard nothing but good things about them. I hope they pay for a replacement. I'll keep in mind that situation when I go to do mine. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

I think, I'll have positive results. Just need to get the test. I'm scheming on that grimmspeed ebc and the wife is talking like we have some surplus cash so... Once I get that, I'll throw on this new bpv and do it all since I'm down there. I'll change these plugs then look forward to this tune. I really wish I could just pull the trigger on it but we've been at Lowe's the past 4 weekends. Just picked out blinds for the whole house yesterday. Came to the cost of a tune. I'll catch a break sooner or later... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Yeah! That's what it was. They suggested fuel pump. They offered to do all that, (at a cost of course) and had parts in stock. I mean the service they provide sounds awesome. Prep and Get it right the first time, minimize the chance of things not working out. The time I was contacting them they had a small sale going on so I started poking around even more. If I go with them it won't be immediate because I'm literally closing on a new house in a week, then comes appliances and other stuff. Wife would flip if I dropped big cash on car mods. So it has to wait a few. I want to finish up this ebc, while I'm down there put on this new bpv. Then do my plugs myself when things calm down. Then tune. I'll be more than happy to post the results of this Nameless dp. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Lol I'm still looking at my options on a tune. I was talking to Circuit Motorsports about them doing it. They'd like to change plugs, smoked test and something else. They also would have liked me to have a grimmspeed ebc. A little too rich for my taste with my tiny mod list. I think my plan is to get the ebc, change plugs, then get an etune for now. As I figure out what direction I want with future mods I'll look to CMS for a final tune.

Hey here's a DP/tuning related question for you guys. I'm mulling over how I want to approach an immediate tune and future mods. (As of now I just have a bpv and DP) I'm not anticipating going too crazy with future mods. Larger intercooler, maybe cams? Tops. I'm looking to either in shop pro tune or etune. I'd like to go for a shop tune, they are more expensive but I'd hopefully leave feeling that they got every horse out of it that they could. In a couple of posts of logs with etunes there seemed to be a couple of questionable things going on from what I interpret. Also on that note I'd rather not pay 600+ a piece for 2 in-house sessions at who knows time period a part (considering I could find additional parts at a discount and purchase them sooner). E tune and shop tune guys, how are you approaching your progress? Would the two methods of tuning be likely to build upon the last tuners maps? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
