  1. When I did commute in it I found it mildly stressful because I didn't fully trust the car like I did with my Ford Explorer, Fusion or Impreza. Those were simple, unmodified, and not sensitive. They were also noticeably more refined as a daily driver. My Legacy is prone to tantrums even when it's in tip top shape and isn't the most comfortable vehicle. While I appreciate that it talks to me it also makes me paranoid over the slightest inconsistency. I did put 25k on it in 2016 including 2 round trips from Vancouver to SoCal with zero issues so I think if I had to go back to commuting in my own vehicle I'd end up purchasing a 2nd vehicle again.
  2. Having owned and driven cars from both ends of the spectrum throughout my wagon ownership I have found that there's not much out there that interests me. If it was totaled tomorrow I'd probably just search for another one. I am fortunate enough to be 30 years old with no kids, mortgage or debt and enough play money to do what I want with the car. I just added a backup camera, a car tablet, and am wiring for a new sound system. The carpet has been ripped out so I can put in sound deadening to quiet it down. I've got all the creature comforts I care for and none that I have no interest in. I like to drive my car, I don't want it to drive for me. Next I'd like to get the front seats reupholstered so I can go on trips without my ass being on fire. I also daily drive a Nissan NV1500 that is fully paid for by my company so I don't have to live with my personal cars daily. It goes to the grocery store and on weekend trips. Maybe that is part of why I have this perspective. I do 95% of my own repairs so if it's down for the count I don't have to worry about getting to work.
  3. Thanks. I'll be in SW/Cedar Mill area. I'm pretty sure I've seen your wagon around. I'm born and raised in Battle Ground and have lived in Vancouver since 2012. But I've been working in Portland for 10 years now and the commute no longer makes sense. I'm fortunate to have a company paid work truck but the traffic is slowly eating away at my sanity.
  4. A better question would be what DIDN'T I do to my 4th gen today (or over the last year-ish). My wagon has been parked since 2020 and hasn't been driven regularly since 2017. I recently made the decision to move to Portland, which was going to require me to downsize. So, one car had to go. I decided to start getting it road worthy again and see how I felt once it wasn't sad and covered in dust in the garage (and a home for a rats nest as I later found out). Well, that day came, and after one drive it became pretty clear which vehicle would have to go. I left for the alignment shop and ended up coming back home around 4 hours/250 miles later. I'll update later on what all I've done and what is left to do. I've easily spent 100s of hours (and thousands of dollars) in the past few months getting this pig back on the road. The Impreza is off to its new home on Saturday and I'm moving in 5 weeks and there is still so much to do. January 2nd marks 9 years of ownership and I'd like to have it mostly daily-able by then. More to come!
  5. Yes it looks like you're correct, they don't make wagon specific mufflers. Those look to be designed for a sedan. I'm gonna be a tire kicker for now, if someone gets them before me then it wasn't meant to be.
  6. That black 20G is calling my name. I put my JmP VF40 on in 2015 and am still running it. My car has been sitting for 4 years but I got it back on the road last week and have been driving the piss out of it. No issues on the turbo. I've been out of the game for a while but I'm looking to beef up my car a bit. Unfortunately I think the 20G would be a waste for someone who is only looking to make 300/300. I'll PM you though.
  7. Like the title says, I'm looking for carpet for my wagon. I live in Portland OR, looking for local pick up but I am willing to drive.
  8. Looking for a decent set of wagon struts and springs, OEM only. I'm located in SW Washington but willing to pay shipping. Thanks.
  9. Has anyone ever replaced these gaskets between the turbo and BPV? I'm having a hell of a time finding them for my Perrin TMIC. I suspect I have a boost leak and those are my best guesses considering I've replaced or upgraded just about every damn hose on the car. The turbo inlets and outlets are fine. I've noticed the last few times I've removed my TMIC that the usual oil blow-by you see in your intercooler has been working its way past the gasket on the turbo side. I'm going to try some high temp gasket maker for now but I'd prefer a more permanent solution if anyone has any thoughts.
  10. Start with boost leak troubleshooting. Do you have the ability to share your car's learning view with us? I'm not sure how this is done on an AP.
  11. Considering the amount of heartache and walletache I've received from the car, I can never let it go. I lose interest in it from time to time and entertain the idea of selling it. But then I take it for a late night drive and remember what boost feels like and I change my mind instantly lol.
  12. I am still alive. My wagon spends a lot of time sitting these days. I've put around 5,000 miles on it in the last 2 years. The entire drivetrain is shot and it's not very safe to drive at freeway speeds. I can't hear myself think over the wheel bearings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I got the vanity plates I've been wanting for a few years now finally as a way to motivate myself to get back to work on it. I've got bushings, ball joints, CV axles, wheel bearings, and probably a rack and pinion on the way. I think I've got a boost leak somewhere too. Yes, I removed my Bernie stickers.
  13. Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I will be trying the O'reilly axles to get me by for now and rebuild my OEs later to have as spares. I'll report back on if the axles work out.
  14. Hey all, long time no see. I desperately need to replace front axles in my '05 wagon. Can't seem to find OEM anywhere for under 650...has anyone ever had luck with aftermarket? Just about everywhere I read I see horror story after horror story, as well as terrible reviews online. I don't mind taking a chance and putting in an axle only to find it sucks and pulling it back out again as most parts stores have lifetime warranties. But I figured I'd at least get some feedback before I pull the trigger on one. thanks all
  15. is there something different in the turn signal or is it just a different style? never seen these before.
  16. dig those wheels, very similar to my knockoffs. I was going to go with white initially but they were out of stock. have they been a pain in the ass to clean?
  17. Sounds like you are having similar feelings about your wagon as mine. It's been sitting undriven for the better part of the last year so I too started buying parts for it...clutch replacement is soon to come, followed by front end rebuild. Might be road worthy by April-ish.
  18. Just found #135 for sale https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/d/gresham-2006-subaru-legacy-gt-spec-40k/6771186231.html
  19. Any OBP owners with white wheels that want to share pics of their cars?
  20. Spotted number 118 today. Still located in Portland. Says it belongs to "mialpratt" but I can't find their name in the member list.
  21. Wagon butt. I'm really curious to see the results of the "surprise", because I am not liking that giant glaring chrome strip one bit! I'm surprised by this actually.
