Replacement headlight housings
blackobxt replied to blackobxt's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I’m going to have to be proactive. We might not have rust here but the sun just destroys everything else. -

I’d love to send these off to get some custom stuffs but I just can’t justify the price with my current budget -
Replacement headlight housings
blackobxt replied to blackobxt's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Not around here. To see a Subaru of any make is a unicorn sighting. I have yet to see another outback or legacy in my 3 years of living here -
Looking for recommendations for my 05 outback xt. The previous owners attempted to restore the headlights and gouged the hell out of them then sprayed some gnarly clear or something on it but it’s yellow and was tough to sand and restoring them myself proved to be a lost cause. Anyhoo, does anyone have a recommendation for replacement housings? Preferably ones that last longer than a year before needing attention.

Anyone installed SuperPro Sway bars?
blackobxt replied to neeksimons's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I know a ton of people are running whiteline including myself. I haven’t seen anyone ever complain about their sway bars and I for one am super happy with it. Why are you so concerned about corrosion? Do you live in the rust belt? If so, god himself can’t even produce a finish that will save you. -
2005 Tuned by STI
blackobxt replied to Canucksfan1's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
It’d certainly help with the issue of the connectors that always break. Pulling the plugs would still involve the magic of using random extensions, universal joints and cramped hands, or just jacking the motor up. -

I don’t believe it did. If you look up by the brake fluid reservoir it looks like the coils for the other side -

Good eye! I’m pretty convinced they are coils. More pics of that please -
STi Strut Bar not fitting properly
blackobxt replied to jasqi's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
We got a legacy gt in on repair back in like 2009 that schmucked a curb in a snow storm and it did just what you’re experiencing, tweaked the strut tower bad enough that the new stuff wouldn’t line up. Took our body guy some aggressive loving to get it to line back up. -
STi Strut Bar not fitting properly
blackobxt replied to jasqi's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Well, I’d start by going to an alignment shop to see how bad things really are. From the sounds of it, getting a strut bar to fit is the least of your worries. -
Yeah that’s for a legacy. I’d spend $200, hell I’d spend $5-700 for that. I plan on having the whole car painted in the next few years. Just need to drive it back to wyoming and leave it there so my friend can work his magic. Also need to get him on painting my jet ski! I’d love to bring both back to az at once

Amen to that, except for one detail……I want the exhaust cutouts on my obxt! Usdm bumper with Jdm cutouts. I thought about cutting the bumper and building pieces out of fiberglass to cover the cuts that would never look right but I know I’d never be happy with them and my good friend that does all my paint and body that lives 1,000 miles away would give me shit for the rest of my life on how they look

Door Moulding Repair after Theft Attempt
blackobxt replied to need bb's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
It’s been a while since I removed one of those but if memory serves (and I drink a lot) you pull the rubber back and there are screws under it -
Limezest's Manual Wagon Repair & Build Thread
blackobxt replied to limezest's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Let me know if you encountered the same issues I did with my install. Most vehicles have the iat sensor pre turbo, it always made more sense to me to have it post turbo but who knows. Every vehicle I’ve ever turbocharged gets the sensor post turbo, never had a tuner complain. On my brothers camaro that was making a little north of 1,500hp, we were trying to prove you could run that setup without an intercooler and we actually melted a few intake temp sensors lol. -
Yeah what’s not a good idea? I was a professional remote start installer for years and have installed thousands of remote starts many of which were on manual transmissions and it’s never once damaged a vehicle. And living in wyoming you can only imagine the number of Subarus I’ve done and that includes lgt’s, sti’s, wrx’s, obxt’s and fxt’s. In fact my own sti was the first vehicle I ever installed a remote start on.

What timing are you referring to redoing? As was stated, talk to your tuner, if you need to redo your timing you’re already having a bad day

https://fortin.ca/download/80181/evo-all_ig_reg_bi_sub-legacy_2005_key_a_80181.pdf This is what an install looks like minus the “key in a box” there’s even pictures!
-
On most cars when you are doing a remote start, that bypass module will handle the door lock data AND the transponder bypass for remote start, on Subarus of our gen I haven’t had much luck so I use a key in a box. It’s a box that you put a key in and tuck waaay up under the dash in a sneaky location. There is a wire with a copper ring that plugs into it that you place around the ignition barrel. The box you put the key in gets wired into the remote start and sends the signal from the key inside to the ignition barrel tricking it into passing the transponder for remote start.

Ok so prices have gone up but there are actually a few options one of which will even work with the factory remote. https://www.amazon.com/Avital-4105L-Avistart-4-Button-Controls/dp/B01BHQ1YQE/ref=asc_df_B01BHQ1YQE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309941869364&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13714384675869975309&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9030157&hvtargid=pla-449742251440&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=62060060539&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309941869364&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13714384675869975309&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9030157&hvtargid=pla-449742251440 https://www.amazon.com/idatalink-ALCA-Remote-databus-Interfuse/dp/B001983S0Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=1H67GJSPZY812&keywords=ads-alca&qid=1642881406&sprefix=ads-alca%2Caps%2C565&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.com/BANVIE-Universal-Immobilizer-Transponder-Release/dp/B075TH5B91/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=179WT6D3AIPK4&keywords=dei+556u&qid=1642881517&sprefix=dei+556u%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-1 You would need all three of these to do a remote start with new fobs. The idatalink module would have to be flashed for your car (I have all the tools to do this) and a spare key will go in the 556u for the transponder.
-
You can actually do it for a little more than $100
-
Dei makes viper, python avital etc. you wil need a bypass module on top of whatever remote start you choose that will handle the door locks and other related data and you will need to do a key in a box to handle the transponder. It’s really not that difficult to install but it is a job.
-
Anything dei. And you CAN tap into the neutral safety switch so it won’t start in gear.
