  1. I want a dead accurate digital oil level gauge that doesn’t require me popping the hood. i’d Pay $300-500 for that. 7-1000 if it included temp and pressure.
  2. The guy from killer b who is always on nasioc cheekily implys other manufacturers competing parts are of sub par quality. Loves to say their welds are superior too.
  3. 05 is the hard year. 06-09 much easier. No messing with seat belts.
  4. The confidence of a built block with good parts beats anxiety about driving on weak parts.
  5. Your wagon is my new favorite black wagon. Sorry magnusubie. I like it so much its making me question my life decisions.
  6. I should buy you some beer, coffee, spliff for a ride sometime. I want to feel the h6 anyway. I recently tried out some koni's and epics, and it though I loved the reduced travel it was still pretty plush to me. The owner said it set to middle so theres hope.
  7. So up untill 3-4 months ago, the predominant sentiment on this site was that coilovers suck if you don't spend at least $3000+. Never having ridden on them I gave them a chance and they unlocked potential in the outback I never thought was possible. BUT, everyone says one winter in salt state and the adjustability is gone and the cold temps are harder on the internals. So hence the desire for a winter set up. As far as my back is concerned, the sti seats absorb a lot of the stuff that on legacy seats probably would be closer to uncomfortable. Or they dampen adequately the harsher bumps to the effect where the tightness of the suspension is way more fun than any discomfort that goes along with it, which I find to be little. I originally thought I was going to hate the coils and just wanted to try them out. I was not expecting them to be anything other than stanz bro ride quality. The opposite was true and they put me closer to the road and make the car feel far more controllable like a ski or snowboard, basically I feel like I can carve the road. As far as a winter set up goes swapping swifts for pinks cost me nothing and improved handling. But I still feel like as long as there is any lift or dive its draining the sense of power from the vehicle. Its just feels half as fun as it did on coil and the effect is what once was fun is now kinda boring. I don't want to go lower for winter then I am now, but I do want to get stiffer. I am thinking I'll get black friday koni's and cannibalize my bilsteins. Ideally I'd like a spring strut combo that handles liftt and dive like a coilover. I don't really want to have a separate winter coilover, that just seems like a bad idea. I suppose I could change the whole winter identity and go battle wagon. That would line up more with my spring time aspirations for going back country hiking out west, but I am keeping my stock kybs for that purpose. The need for lifted suspension is a 3 weeks out of the year type thing and I can swap easily enough for those periods.
  8. Anyone know who makes the stiffest lowering springs for our cars? Also which is going to be firmer, bilstein hd's or konis? With my swifts on spec b take offs compared to my coils the ride is back to boring in my opinion. So with the black friday sales coming I am thinking of getting the HDs or konis and new springs if there's a lowering option similar to my swifts but even stiffer still.
  9. I want you to sleep with my.... I mean I want you to mod my car.
  10. I live MN but I really want to do this. If my iat gets hijacked my car won't be able to adjust with temps that flucuate between -20 and 110. How does the AEM guage provide a failsafe against this?
  11. Im in mn and ran E85 all last year but sneaked a gallon of 93 on cold days. What damage do I risk? Right now Ive got a pretty good cold weather tune and have not had any issues at 32 degrees.
  12. Ive got nothing to deal with inregards to my suspension. Ill probably just live as the ugly girl.
  13. So how does one get flush fitment that's also alignment and rub kosher? Lowered my tires tuck for sure. I think I would like the look better if I was a little more flush. I've got kta124.
  14. I really loved them on the other guys outback but he was lifited just a touch over legacy height and I think the aggressive look compliments the gap. Since I have no gap the car has a more feminine look and I think the rounded lines of the stock wheels compliment the other curves. Plus silver on black is classy. My wheels up close are also scratched up quite a bit. I got them off a wreck on ebay. But I also deeply appreciated RCR's miata episode recently.
  15. Snows. 205 55 17. Definately can feel more power from the lower profile. As far as the rims, I do not like them for some reason and am going to put the tires on the stocks next week.
  16. What year seats did you put in? Your car is still awesome! My 2011 sti seats have no lumbar adjustment that I could find. Also looks like you have some two tone interior going on. Can't see it well but I think its a perfect fit for this car.
  17. I really like your unedited shots. I would be very proud to own your wagon.
  18. My driver seat had a tear in it and I couldnt find anything cheap to replace it with that looked nice. The sti seats came up for sale locally for a great price and I grabbed them. They bring the interior up a level and actually do the most to make you feel you have a new car. The bolstering is better, the seats are softer and have more support at the same time once you've done the sti seat mod. Also the alacantra acts more like cloth in regards hot and cold temps.
  19. I will answer my own questions. My 2011 sti heated seats bolted right up where my old powered seats were. I had to splice airbag connections, drill out and swap occupancy module, and swap belt latches but those were the only parts that were not direct plug in play. You do not have to remove the actual occupancy sensor pad. The sti sensor pad will plug into the legacy sensor module. No airbag lights and everything works. If I were to do it again it would probably take two hours tops.
  20. All the write ups I see are for 05s. I know everything changed on 06 which is what I have. I keep seeing posts in old threads of people claiming 08+ wrx/sti seats bolt right up, only issue is heated seats and airbags. Is it true they bolt up without modding? Can I splice the heated seat wires instead pulling off the upholstry? If I disconnect the airbag light will all airbags not work or just the ones in the driver and passenger seats?
  21. Yes, but we have only so many revs and few enjoy lag. 20g is not 400hp (20g xtr is). And if you are not built for 400hp but running a turbo capable of that, its probably not going to feel as engaging to drive as a smaller turbo. Hey may not even reach full boost depending on the turbo and fuel mods.
  22. Ok, I have coilovers now. Dialing in ride height is a tedious process. What are our options for rolling and pulling? Its my understanding we can cut the plastic lip and thats about it right? Also anyone have a solution for coilover creak/whine?
