2015 Legacy Console Lid won't latch...
Jeff T replied to Jeff T's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Thanks! I guess it stays the way it is! -
We decided to take my wife's 2015 on a trip. One night I noticed the map lights were not coming on when the doors we opened. Switch was in the correct position, I touched it and they came on. Let go and they turned off. I tried to move the switch back and forth, it was difficult, now nothing. How would I pop that assemble off to get a better look? Thanks.

Exhaust smell / Recall WUJ-95
Jeff T replied to 2Quiker's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Had ours done today. 106k, replaced the manifold, O2 sensor and a couple of heat shields described as crusty on the n/c invoice. Took 4 hours to complete, glad we got a loaner. -
Exhaust smell / Recall WUJ-95

Wife just told me we got a letter from Subaru as well. Something about exhaust she said. First question, do I have to take it in. My response, do you know what an exhaust leak can do? Going in next week. -
Just found this vid on YT. Shows the tool req'd and how to retract the rear pistons.

2015 Legacy brake question...
Jeff T replied to Jeff T's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Good point. My daughters Mazda 3 did the same. I "assumed" it was the front... Aren't the rears a whole different procedure, IIRC?? -
2015 Legacy brake question...
Jeff T replied to Jeff T's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Should have mentioned it. Fluid level is fine. -
Our 2015 started life as my company car. Long trips, limited braking with excellent tire and brake wear. About a two years ago it became my brides DD. I took it out the other day and noticed the brake pedal was extremely low. With 99k I assumed time for front pads and just bought them. Pulled the calipers off this AM and I was surprised by the amount of material still on the the pads. Way more than I would have expected. Should I just swap the pads anyway or is there an underlying issue?? Thanks.

Front/Rear Differential Fluid Change
Jeff T replied to spect2k's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
I used Royal Purple, leftover from other vehicles. I always use synthetic. -
Front/Rear Differential Fluid Change

Since no one has posted a pic of the rear diff I thought I would add one to this thread. As mentioned previously the rear is easy peasy!! 10mm allen loosens both fill & drain plug. Just a reminder, always loosen the FILL plug first!! I went with Royal Purple as I had some left from other vehicles. Manual states .8 qt. Good Luck!! -
Bummer to just see this thread. I've had the gridlines on my 15 since day one. Just assumed it was SOP. AT 91k I'm SOL...

Amount of oil added between changes
Jeff T replied to waldguy's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
My Legacy currently sits at 78k. I've gone from using it as my company car to having it be my wife's around town car. As my company car it frequently saw 1000 miles a week and 90% usually at speeds between 70-80 mph. I believe around town speaks for itself. When cruising those at higher speeds for long distances I was adding at least a 1/2 quart between every oil change. Now that it's around town mostly I am not adding any oil. Just one person's observations, your mileage may vary... -
Most of my driving is long distance and yes I do find the seats uncomfortable. My 04 4Runner was more comfortable. I find that on a trip of a few hours or longer I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket. On the other hand I am impressed with the leather on the seats. After 73k the seats look new, conversely my daughters Mazda 3 has 20k on it and the leather looks like 100k! And here arse is much smaller than mine!

Amount of oil added between changes
Jeff T replied to waldguy's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
My 2.5 currently has approximately 67k on it. When it hit 30k it start using about a 1/2 quart between changes. I'm 500 miles to the next change and this time I'm up to a quart. -
Weak/Bad design windshield?
Jeff T replied to diesel4982's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Mine recently cracked from a rock. As you drive you become accustomed to the sound of rocks hitting the windshield. I've had impact that sounded like they were as big as a baseball hit with no problem. My crack was caused by the slightest sound. Just caught it right I guess. After 60k of highway miles a new un-sandblasted from highway miles windshield is nice!!! -

Hmmm, do they make workout videos for Subies? Those Jane Fonda workout VHS tapes still work for me!
