  1. Glad to hear it worked out for you Joe. I knew something with the GLI couldn't be working right, so I'm glad they figured it out. It's tough to diagnose stuff like that over the phone.
  2. I think what might be hangin' you up is the climate control cable. Did you disconnect it? Here's the Metra instructions on how/where to disconnect it.
  3. They were only a couple pages back... http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct3.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct2.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct1.jpg
  4. No worries. If you want the sound to go through the OEM radio though, it's this, or FM modulators - that's it. If you want to go aftermarket, you can put in *another* radio (since you can't remove the OEM or you'll loose ACC), or you can use a line out converter (JL Cleansweep, RF 3.sixty) with aftermarket amps.
  5. There's no inputs, RCA or otherwise on any but the new '07 Subaru radios. Does that answer your question? Best Buy was no doubt planning on using the D&P's built in FM modulator.
  6. iPod functionality has only to do with the iPod dock you use, not the aux-in. But if you're asking if the iPod docking cable I sell provides that functionality, I don't think that it does.
  7. Unfortunately, XM does the same thing. My fav channels (48-Squizz, 47-Ethel, 54-Lucy) get pretty low bandwidth while the top 20 & pop/r&B ones get pretty much everything they want. Plus, every damn station is EQ'd differently - so every time I change stations I get a totally different sound. I'm sure some people like that, but I don't. Even stranger yet, is despite them discontinuing two of my preset stations (and probably others), quality seems to continue to get worse. Quality aside, I like Sirius better. As an example, their 80's channel is perfect. The same chan on XM plays the most obscure crap from the 80's - most of which I've never even heard of...nor wish to hear again. I like Squizz, but generally I think Sirius' music channels are DJ'd better.
  8. Not that I own an iPod, but I like this product of theirs better: http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-fw.html
  9. Have you listened to your Sirius tuner anywhere else? That's the only thing I can think of as a source for the problem...Sat radio is still compressed audio - some stations on XM sound like crap to me regardless. Can you hook up any other audio source for comparisons?
  10. What audio source are you using? I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm pretty sure it isn't the GLI. I roadtripped with a friend this weekend and I hooked up his iPod through the PAC GLI and we had to turn the bass down because it was so boomy. I was using the headphone out and a pre-amp though instead of a line level out...
  11. The 3.5mm mini-stereo plug and RCA's are actually tied together as dual outputs for the iPod. Since everything is tied together though, they *can* work as an alternate input. There's a chance however that if you're not lucky like ZinFreak, the impedances won't be properly matched and either the iPod or your alternate audio device will pull the signal down of the other device. Sometimes things just work out though.
  12. Leave it on. It prevents shorts once mounted internally. The material is Polyolefin, and is not rated as flame resistant, but it is capable of withstanding heat up to 260*C / 500*F for 4 hours. At that temp, the entirety of your radio would have melted down first. You can read more on it here: http://www.heatshrink.com/a23x.htm
  13. Ask and ye shall receive...these are links because otherwise they would be too big: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct3.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct2.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/instruct1.jpg
  14. Yes it says how to take out the radio. Nate - the mod is compatible with the Saabaru as long as it has the 6CD radio. Thanks
  15. I assume you figured it out since you managed to send payment. BTW - if you're building a CarPC, the Pro Kit is exactly what you want and what you ordered, so you're all set. Thanks.
  16. You can still use the cigarette lighter under the stereo for power (I did for my XM) - but you'll have to splice/solder the wires into the wires behind the cigarette ligher vs. being able to just plug an adapter into it.
  17. Joe, Your RoadyXM is ready to go and you probably don't even need a GLI for that (I don't have one w/my Roady2 and it sounds perfect). A simple "install kit" will be everything you need for that. However, if you're going to be occasionally hooking up an Ipod and use a charger, you will want the Pro kit because otherwise you will get noise from the charger. As I stated to uncled though, if you're only occasionally hooking up the iPod and don't need it to charge while playing, you can get a line-out only setup such as one of the above listed and not worry about the GLI. The only thing you need a GLI (Pro kits) for is to prevent alternator noise caused by 12V chargers. Normally I would recommend them for sat radio installs too, except I know the Roady is one of the few that doesn't cause noise.
  18. I can answer at least some of the questions: 1) You can still use the line out without a GLI, you just will get some noise. Some people find it acceptable, some do not. 2) As far as I know, the Belkin dock is the only cable that has this overheating problem. I don't know if any other cable provides the "pause" feature though. If you're trying to simplify the setup (and reduce costs), there is one other option available to you. You can get a line out adapter and not use a charger, so you don't need a GLI and you get loud, clean audio. Your Ipod will be running on batteries however. Here are some examples of basic line level out adapters: http://www.sik.com/din.php http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-usb.html
  19. Yes, you need a charge & play cable of some kind. I sell one with my kits, but there are several other varieties to choose from: http://www.jazzyengineering.com/images/ic-RCA1.jpg
  20. Bummer. Something must be wrong with the jack. PM me your full name & I'll send you a new board.
  21. I'm plenty well stocked. Don't worry. For your application, I would definitely recommend the Pro Kit. Without the GLI, you will almost certainly get ground loop noise.
  22. The aux-in does not provide power - to get that I'd hardware your RoadyXT to the cigarette lighter power lines - that's what I did w/my Roady2. Orders generally ship with in 2-3 days of receipt and shipping is USPS Priority = 2 more days, includes Saturdays.
