  1. Where did you mount your PLX module, and how did you route the cable between them? I've been meaning to get around to doing my PLX install, and that's the one part I haven't figured out yet.
  2. Agreed - I've been taking my spec.B to them. Mark is a nice guy to work with, and their prices are hard to beat. You must be the Legacy he was calling me about with a question.
  3. I do have the same thing. It's almost like there's a layer slightly delaminating. I tried to take pictures but couldn't really capture it.
  4. Given the size of the Chicagoland LGT population, the fact that at least 5 of us go there seems significant. Mitsuwa, the de facto headquarters of Chicagoland LegacyGT.com?
  5. Location: Mobile, Alabamer It works fine through Chicago winters, I think you'll be ok
  6. Let's be honest, 2009 was the last year for them There's plenty of low miles 4th gens out there. I was just pointing a friend at this one: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2424256
  7. Hey hey, this forum is Chicago only As a former St. Louis member, nice to see something outside ChiTown.
  8. That would be me, I didn't even notice. Was visiting a friend who lives in a loft there. That might be the first time I was ever spotted.
  9. I'm not monitoring AFR, just voltage right now. I still need to get my DP tapped/welded for the sensor for the AFR. I'll upgrade to 1.05b5 and set my alarm back to 18psi and see if it comes back. I am running the tubing through the fender gap as johnAWD's method describes. I did wrap the opening in the sheet metal with electrical tape because it is very very sharp, and the tubing can move around in there. If I can find a grommet that will fit, I'll likely install one in the opening to hold the tubing in place (a larger piece of tubing is a good idea, I just didn't have any around). Despite being DOT rated air tube I would actually expect this to get damaged there -- it's a very sharp edge and there's a lot of potential for it to move around even when zip tied in place. You definitely need to protect it if you run it through that opening. If you run it through a firewall grommet as fulton said (very very easy on 5EATs, not so much on MTs) you would have no concerns at all.
  10. By the way, I haven't been around much to follow up, but it's 1.05b2 and the boost filtering is on "low". I turned the boost alarm off entirely, and it hasn't gone off since. Very strange that I was tripping it. I had the alarm for it set at 20psi, and have definitely never seen a boost peak register over 16.x. It's incredibly rare to see over 15.4, which would tell me it's reading accurate and my tune is behaving.
  11. I didn't change it, but I don't recall the default. I will check next time I'm in the car.
  12. 1.05b, it seems to happen between decel coming off boost, which is also the hardest time for me to see what's doing it. Something like accelerating at a decent clip in 2nd or 3rd, and then traffic stopping and me jumping on the brakes to stop. I'll update to the latest firmware if you want and see if it goes away. The only thing I can think is that the voltage alarm values got "stuck" somehow even though they're off now? Not sure.
  13. I still randomly have an alarm going off, and I turned everything off but overboost (which is set at 20psi). I'm definitely not legitimately hitting 20psi at any point (stock turbo, stage 1 OTS, peaking at ~15psi), and I've never seen a BP after saying anything over 16.x PSI. Any thoughts on how I can figure out what alarm I'm setting off and what the value was that triggered it?
  14. You can buy it all straight from PLX, I think most of us did.
  15. What are you plugging the other end into? I can confirm it will not be compatible with an OBD2 port, or an AccessPort. I don't believe you can datalog off the VBG1 itself, though that's an interesting feature request.
  16. Quite possibly, the cig lighter actually turns off while you crank if I recall, where the ignition fuse that it's suggested you tap the VBG1 from is always on when the ignition is on. Really to make the gauge accurate you should ground them to the same physical point, so you may as well power them from the same point too.
  17. (very) Delayed 1.05 feedback - between the holidays, travel out of the country, work, etc, I am just now getting around to it (worthless tester!) I think my feedback is not really 1.05 specific, as I haven't run into anything noteworthy yet. I don't have my PLX hooked up yet, I'll get to that soon hopefully. The 18ga wire off the harness is a bit tough to use with most automotive connectors. To do the ground connection I ended up using a 16-14ga spade, crimped down onto the 18ga and then soldered to make a solid connection. If there's any way to make the bare wire end of that harness with 16ga, it'd make things easier -- but from looking at the connector I can see it's probably not possible. The add a circuit fuse link is a good demonstration of it. The ribbon cable wouldn't "crease" very well for me as described. It worked well enough, but it would still slightly interfere with the louvers. I ended up taping it in place to hold it flat. I don't think there will be any ill effects, did anyone else have to do this? With connectors/wires on all 4 sides of the sensor module, I had a rather difficult time finding a good mounting spot. I ended up using 3M mounting tape to the outside of the metal bracket in there -- I'll take some pictures of it. In searching through all of this, that was one thing I didn't find anyone mentioning/taking pictures of. Same thing with the grounding point. I found a nice ground screw buried back behind all of the harnesses in the fuse panel, but there was just no easy/reasonable way to get to it. There is a bolt I ended up using that is metal on metal and attaches to the same metal plate. I'm not terribly happy with this, but it's the best I could find. I'll post pictures of that too. Alarms -- I tripped one somehow, it wasn't the max boost, so it was probably the low voltage (I set it to 12v just to see if I'd hit it). When it goes off, is there any way to actually tell what alarm you've tripped/when/what level it was at? I'm going to try to upgrade my firmware to b4 before I head off to 100 Acre Wood this weekend. I'll try to take videos/photos of that process and post it up.
  18. I think the intake & exhaust for each bank is completely independent on the Gallardo, so you would need 2.
  19. There are daisy chain style cable adapters you use to connect multiple devices. I've never actually done it, so I don't know the exact configuration. "The Y splitter is used to connect two displays in parallel. Our DM-6 does not have an output (unlike our other displays). For example, if you have two DM-6 and one DM-100OBD2, you can plug in the Y splitter to your DM-100OBD2 and then connect the DM-6 RX cable to the Y splitter." "The DM-6 display needs a 8V power supply which is built into the SM-AFR GEN 2. Using the DM-6 with another sensor module will require a 8V voltage converter between the sensor module and the DM-6. We include the 8V voltage converter with the DM-6 if you buy the standalone DM-6. However, if you are buying the SM-AFR/DM-6 Combo, there is no need for the 8V converter since the SM-AFR is already supplying 8V output. For that reason, we don't include the 8V converter with the SM-AFR/DM-6 Combo."
  20. If it was really an OBP SpecB, there's only 2 or 3, and it wasn't me.
  21. I have a PLX SM-AFR2 and a DM-6, as well as the VBG 1.05 beta, so definitely let me know when you want to mess around with that.
  22. It definitely shouldn't be seen as 'justice' -- but it's a forum, not a web store. New products coming to market should be available for discussion. Caveat emptor applies here, but we're here to share knowledge. That's really the whole reason we're here, to benefit from each other's experience so we don't have to do it all ourselves. If we're just going to turn it into a web store and not allow members with knowledge on the subject ask relevant questions on a new product, then what good is the forum? I think you guys are looking at the wrong side of this incident. You know the Subaru/Legacy community well, especially where it comes to the products available. There is nothing to say this vendor won't come through and doesn't have a great product -- but his introduction definitely hit a lot of giant red flag buttons for anyone who's dealt with car parts / internet car forums for a while. I'm sure he's learned from this as well, and hopefully he'll come back with data and shut us all up. But there is equally a chance he'll never come back because he was trying to pawn off eBay turbos on here at a premium to unsuspecting internet buyers.
  23. Any chance you can research the 08-09 "flare/flame" JDM (EDM as well?) market lighting as a mod? I've seen it a couple times and it looked awesome, but there's very little information on it. Would love to see that brought to life here in the US. It's a lot more unique.
  24. Forgive me of being critical of how the mods handled this, but: My deleted post: Your post later in the thread (not deleted): A not deleted post that I would understand being deleted: To be fair, the person who responded indicating the conflict of interest had a valid point, as do you. Though the conflict of interest post is rather confusing since my post it was referencing was nuked. As far as the name though, I'm sorry, but if you CHOOSE a name that you know will get some ridicule, and you're on an internet forum, you should expect some ribbing and roll with it. If it offends you, you're not going to make it as a vendor or even as a member for the most part. I would suggest the moderation team handling vendor status take it upon themselves to work with potential vendors on this sort of thing beforehand. You should not expect the member base to handle this for you.
  25. If this is going to be in effect, I would suggest a bit more stringent filtering of your criteria for vendors and their announcements. I'm operating under the assumption this thread is in response to this one: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/new-vendor-new-turbo-pump-and-more-176508.html Unfortunately several posts with valid questions and comments were deleted, but quite frankly, unless you guys vetted this vendor and wish to put your own names behind their quality, I don't think you should prohibit us from questioning it. I haven't seen cases where a good vendor has had any trouble getting respect here. I *HAVE* seen cases where shitty vendors ran all over their customers here.
