  1. TGVs removed, but I left the divider wall in place because I don't have the patience to cut it out with a dremel. Although I did smooth out the lip that the butterfly plate sits on, and sharpened the leading edge of the divider wall.

Got most of it all back together today. GS phenolic spacers are in, TGVs are in, AVO inlet is in, and I bypassed the throttle body heater while I was in there. The only thing stopping me is to get a new T fitting and some vacuum line so I can attach the 3-port EBCS to the inlet. I should have some time to wrap it up on Friday.

All in all, I think putting it all back together was easier than removal. Although I did forget the bracket for the upper coolant reservoir, but at that point I didn't really care.

  2. Girlfriend's Focus had a dead alternator that took out a weak battery, so I spent today getting her car sorted out instead of working on the TGVs. Had a little time to remove the rods and valve plate s, smooth out the divider wall, and tap the holes. Need to get different hardware tomorrow to seal up the holes from the motors/sensors.
  3. Intake manifold is off. I kept reading about people complaining about "that one bolt", and now I understand.

AVO inlet, GS phenolic spacers, and new TGV/IM gaskets coming on Monday. Going to remove the TGVs tomorrow.

EDIT: For 140k miles I was very pleased to find no shaft play in the turbo.

  4. Thanks Spoonwacker!

I believe Higgins was having some overheating issues, so they popped the hood to check it out in transit between stages and then forgot to replace the hood pins. They finished the stage a mere 10 seconds behind L'Estage! Pretty impressive.

  5. Moved into a new apartment last week so I don't have to park my wagon on the street anymore!

Unfortunately I had to park it outside the first couple of nights before I got my parking pass, and I didn't notice the sprinkler system right in front of the car. Hard water spots everywhere...

And thats after it was washed.

  6. VAG COM cable showed up yesterday, can't get it to work for the life of me. Just gonna suck it up and get the Tactrix.

Had this guy show up today and threw it on quick, tried out the yellow spring (medium) first and it seemed fine. Switched out for the blue spring (soft) and it got a little quieter but still held boost without issue.

Washed it for the first time in a week or two, it needed it.

I was very happy to see the paint was still looking good, its been about 6 months since I've polished the whole car and I can be a little negligent with my washing procedure. I'm sure part of this is due to the OptiCoat Pro holding up so well.

Cleaned up the engine bay a little bit too while I was at it.

Next project is to try and make a cold air box for the intake while I'm waiting for a certain JermTheElf to holla at a brotha about a 3D printed gauge pod.
