  1. No doubt man, I'm in the same saving process with my 90 wagon, can't stand to see it get pillaged then squished for 200 hundred bucks in scrap. Its better to have a project and bide time than buy a new car these days. My project is through and through a complete one, motor, exterior and interior is not to bad just trim pieces...once its rolling and legal everything else will follow.
  2. Good thing you are taking car of all that, I believe rust was invented in new York unfortunately. At least you have a good base to finish repair though huh? Good luck and happy rust killing bro.
  3. I have seen a pic of your ride a while back after you painted some of your trim or something...nice. I vote for red all day long dude. I wouldn't consider it flashy...more like these brakes mean business.
  4. Pulled the motor from the flea-bag and it looks pretty terrible under there, I think oil was coming out of that motor on every single seal and gasket on it, I couldn't even see the camshaft support plate in the back of the block. I didn't notice when I bought the car that the clutch cable was rigged up with a #13 shallow socket as a spacer...lol Removing it seemed easier than my 2nd gen sedan, though that car is auto.
  5. Hey whats up guys, I found a 99 impreza 2.5 that has been totaled the guy that owns it is selling some of the parts pretty cheap. It just so happens I need to replace the rack and pinion on 95 sedan soon and i do not know if I can use it, it looks the same the pump is different and believe the lines are routed a bit differently, the pump and lines are immaterial to me unless I need them. If the owner will cuts me a deal I may get the whole p/s system. ...Zues, can you divert me to a thread about suspension crossover parts from 02-03 wrx to bd legacy. I couldn't find a sticky on it though I'm almost positive you wrote one up
  6. Guess with all the replies I got from sbt I should have just made a thread....sorry
  7. No rubbing as far as I can tell, I looked at all my splash shields and just did my brake pads and rotors, I'm running 16inch wrx wheels with 205/55/zr16 plenty of clearance under there...I agree its differential related I just felt another symptom that is related to it, when I pulled up to a store this morning to grab a coffee I made a complete stop and the car seemed like it wanted to creep forward and it felt like something released and made a clunk noise and the car settled. Felt that before but didn't pay no mind to it. .I hope I'm explaining correctly,
  8. Ok I decided to drive to the nearest open lot and do the tight circles in steering lock, car seemed to track well and I could hear the rear tires gripping. I'm not certain I had torque bind to begin with a few months ago because when I did the drain and fills with the lubeguard the differences I felt in the car was less shaking at a stop light and shifting was a bit harder, maybe my understanding of torque bind is a little off. What is supposed to be going on during torque bind when your doing the circles? I did do a few figure 8's at about 35mph and heard that scraping noise and kind of a faint whine when entering the turns...that sounds differential related bit obviously don't know much about them. Bummer.
  9. When it was binding it wasn't making that noise, but I will do that again and test for the bind in first gear tomorrow. Thanks for that, I have not driven a automatic trans car since high school, never wanted too after I learned how to drive manual so not to keen on how they work and didn't know what torque bind was until I bought a Subaru. All the help is appreciated felons.
  10. Ichecked on those first but they are good and the sound only replicates when I'm driving in gear turning, all of my splash shields are intact which is what I thought first , I was scraping them with my tires turning which it does kind of sound like SBT, But more like a wire brush on concrete..
  11. I have felt a kind of jump or jerk kind on occasion in reverse and turning to lock, I just got rid of some torque bind a couple months ago doing 2 drain and fills w/lubeguard in the last one.
  12. New-ish swapped motor just hit 85,001i have put 4001miles on it since I slapped it in the car which hit 232,897 as I pulled into my driveway after work..motor working great and sounding good.. I think I'm hearing some noise coming through the front differential or the 4eat...can't distinguish it though its a strange sound, like a light scraping when turning a corner under partial throttle and taking off from a dead stop while flooring the pedal. Car takes off like it should but that sound comes in around 1800rpm and goes away around 2400 its pretty fast and sounds rotational. Any ideas?
  13. I have heard of that sport mode mod in the 4eat, I would completely do that with my 95l, I do not know anything about how to do it though just most feedback I hear is for how much better it is. I'm sure the rocker switch is mighty handy as well...nice job.
  14. I bought some 03 wrx wheels to put on my bd and put the 14's on my wagon...got a super deal for $200, the wheels are immaculate and tires have about 2k on them. I wanted the seats he had but he enticed me to the wheels, i need tires soon on my wagon anyway so problem solved.
  15. +1 monkeyposeur, if it gets hot sitting still and goes to normal operating temp when you drive normally there is air in your system. Burping it is real easy.... Let your car idle for a minute then take that plastic screw out of the passenger side of the radiator and take off the radiator cap, top off the coolant like normal until you see a little bit of the coolant come out of the hole you removed that screw from, then put the screw and cap back in. Test drive it for a few blocks, if your still heating up do the process again.
  16. Wow...I took the shifter linkage out of my wagon, started at 830 am, got it out at about 1130. What a b**** and a half that was. When I replace it I think ill just do it the easy way and drop the transmission. Lol. I had to leave the u joint in there..I got the spring pin out of it, but it seems there is two that have to come out. The first spring pin went into a sleeve, or I'm wrong but I couldn't get that one out and the knuckle doesn't slide off that shaft. I'm going to mega u pull to get a linkage off an 05 wrx out there to replace it with so we shall see.

  18. I bought a project legacy today..I'm going to murder out a 90 legacy ls wagon...got lots of work ahead of me to bet it on the road though...going to pull the motor next weekend and reseal it completely, head gaskets as well (they are bad). Its got a few cosmetic issues and some interior work will need to be done as well...the owner sold it to me dirt cheap, think he wanted it out of his backyard. I replacement a motor replacement in my Bd sedan today but when I got it to operating temp it didn't pump water to the block...so I'm thinking the brand new pump doesn't work, now I have to take a freshly rebuilt motor..DAMMIT! my car has been down for over a month waiting on the machine shop and a couple other little parts.
  19. 95 bd 2.2 256k and going but getting tired. I am in the process of putting another 2.2 frm a 98 obs impreza....been sitting in a wrecked car since 08. Very excited!!!
