  1. I think I have two distinct dash rattles. One is the one that everyone is talking about, which mostly happens on rough roads and sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the windshield. The other is kind of weird, because I swear it's coming from the top of the windshield, or where the windshield and headliner meet. I haven't been able to localize it exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's different from the other one.
  2. BTW, I still have my old (repaired) harness sitting around if anyone wants to replace the entire thing without shelling out for a new one. Some of the plastic retaining clips are broken, but otherwise it's in good shape.
  3. A couple from a Japanese Show & Shine meet today: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/sbanman/DSC_1819Large.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/sbanman/DSC_1785Large.jpg
  4. Thanks! Just to clarify, I only need to order the USDM Legacy sedan bumper beam and the two mounting brackets that go with it, correct?
  5. Can you rehost the pics? I'm installing a JDM bumper and don't really want to remove my bumper beam altogether. Just curious how your process went.
  6. Just revisiting this because I'm debating between the EZ Rider and the Railgrabber on eBay. Another member on here had problems with the Railgrabber, so Yakima must have redesigned them at some point. The question is, when? http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/those-yakima-racks-82328.html?p=2468455#post2468455 Either that, or the '05 and '07 have different roofrails.
  7. Ah, I see the problem. I thought I had the Railgrab, but I actually have the LowRider: http://i.imgur.com/acKTAnS.jpg
  8. If anyone is interested, I may be selling my stock '06 headunit soon with RedFloyd's kit already installed. PM me if you're interested.
  9. I can also offer another option if you don't want to have to wait and shell out for an '07-'09 OEM unit - I've got Redfloyd's aux-in kit hooked up with my stock headunit, and I'll be selling it soon. Let me know if you're interested.
  10. You got the railgrabber to work with the factory rails? I always thought they were too low-profile for those to work...
  11. I wish I had thought of this...I accidentally ripped one of the pads off the circuit board when I desoldered the original MOSFET and now have nowhere to attach the new one.
  12. Do you want to buy mine? I bought a new harness and installed it, but then fixed the broken wire in my old one (see previous page). Some of the plastic clips are broken, but otherwise it should work fine. I think the Legacy and Outback would use the same part #s. That being said, the replacement part # for mine was: 81812AG03B.
  13. Updated: Parking lights and hazard lights work fine. No voltage measured across the cigarette lighter light. Going to pull the BIU over the weekend and see if any of the FETs appear to be burned out. Looking at the vacation pics, it would appear that there's no separate illumination module on this gen of Legacy - is that correct?
  14. Everything dims as it should, I think - the gauges, clock, HVAC, and radio display. There's just no backlighting on the HVAC, radio, seat heater switches, cigarette lighter, or mirror controls . I suppose it could also be the illumination control unit which is fried (which would be a much cheaper fix).
  15. The instrument panel dims fine. According to the service manual, the license plate lights are on the same circuit as (some of) the dashboard lights. Yes, I've checked both fuseboxes for continuity, as I mentioned.
  16. All fuses have been checked with a continuity tester. I'm pretty sure I blew the BIU . Going to check it and attempt to fix it...
  17. I just found this post, and fear I may have fried my BIU as well. If I do have to replace the BIU altogether, does it matter if it comes from an automatic or a manual? I did manage to find a good price on one from a scrapyard...
  18. I was fiddling around with the wires behind the coin tray to tap a ground wire for an illuminated switch, and after I was done I discovered that none of the radio or climate control lights illuminate any more. Oddly, though, the coin tray light and the "Display" button by the clock still illuminate, so it's definitely not a blown fuse on the illumination circuit. I also get power from the cigarette lighter, but no light there either. I even removed the tap I had added, thinking I might have accidentally tapped the wrong wire or grounded something I shouldn't have - still no dice. Any other ideas? Everything else still works fine. EDIT - Also, license plate lights are out. So it looks like the entire #2 illumination circuit is out. Could it be the illumination control module, or does that control something else?
  19. ^- Yeah, I have no idea why they made those white plastic lugs so damned difficult to remove. I managed to pull a couple without breaking them, but most of them I was too impatient to finesse them out. I guess they were only intended for one-time usage.
  20. So I ended up replacing the whole wiring harness (which is a PITA, by the way), then I looked over the old one to find the problem. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/sbanman/car%20pics/DSC_0142Large.jpghttp://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/sbanman/car%20pics/DSC_0143Large.jpg One broken wire in the boot: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/sbanman/car%20pics/DSC_0144Large.jpg
  21. Just sitting at the dealership now - I took a quick look at the harness over the weekend and didn't see any obvious breaks or cracks in the wiring. The dealer confirmed it was a harness problem, so I bit the bullet and just bought a new OEM harness. As usual, Canadians get assraped on pricing - they charged me $114 (plus tax); SubaruGenuineParts has it for $64. That's nearly a 100% markup.
