  1. I would say the smart option is not spending time on this unless you enjoy it.

     

    I personally have a 1jz Sc300 and a 1uz sc400 taking up my entire garage for 6 months and the amount of work it will take for me to combine them into 1 good car is scary.

     

    I will keep them for another 6 months myself in case I get the urge to spend my days off doing the swap, however I know it's probably just better to sell both for parts.

  2. Not sure if you're too far in the build to go with the following option, but may help others.

     

    Rather than use an up pipe to mount the turbo in the classic location, should buy a stock 5th gen header and turbo (low mount).

     

    Anyway this means you'd have no up-pipe and rather than a down pipe you would have a J-pipe. So much more simple.

    That way you have the efficiency of a low mount location (great spool) and also not have to worry about cutting the cross member .

     

    This would likely involve using the Gen V legaxy GT sump because it is smaller so it clears the headers.

     

    Other benifit would be that the intercooler piping would be quite short if pairing this with a FMIC.

     

    Finally I should mention that I will be testing a 2015+ WRX header and turbo (mgt2259s) on my ej25 gen v . If it bolts up, this would be another option for those wanting to turbocharge an NA ej25 for cheap (my header and WRX low mount turbo cost $400 aud delivered with only 8000km on it). I picked up a complete 2015 + J-pipe and complete stock exhaust for $100.

    Will be test fitting this, I believe it should fit .

    I've got a complete exhaust to suit.

     

    Once it's all bolted up, it should then mean an easier upgraded turbo down the road since there should be more options available for the WRX flange.

     

    Been meaning to do this for a while, just had to wait for a cheap enough stock turbo to come up for sale locally.

     

    This one should be decent with only 8000km on it.

  4. Try bleeding the coolant, if you're able to bleed out all the air I think you should be ok.

     

    If you get a never ending stream of bubbles , maybe the machine shop didn't sort out the heads correctly during he rebuild process. Or maybe the person rebuilding he engine didn't even bother taking heads to be machined?

     

    Anyway an easy way to rule out he heater core is to simply bypass it!

  5. I saw the same video, Australian guy IIRC.

     

    Also, that guy in Barbados that did the tuning seems to be gone now? He was the de-facto tuner for the NAs

     

     

    The Australian dude was Turbo Yoda and the video was from their Skid Factory chanel on YouTube about the H6 engines.

     

    The tuner you're talking about was using the name XRT tuning I think.

  6. Pushing coolant out of the overflow means that gas is entering the coolant system.

     

     

    On Subaru boxer engines, this is caused by a headgasket leak, combustion gases enter the coolant around the cylinders and that causes bubbles in the overflow bottle and when it's really bad it pushes coolant into that bottle.

     

     

    Because there is now gas taking up the space that the coolant once did in your system, the coolant does not get drawn back into the system from the overflow bottle.

     

     

    Anyway, time to test for a blown headgasket.
