  1. Quick question, I'm pulling the ancient nav out, is the connector for the cubby clock for cars w/o nav buried back in the dash? I didn't see any other threads about removing/deleting the stock nav, any caveats I might run into? I'm putting a non-nav cubby with the 1 din panel bracket kit H0017AG920 to fit in some 45mm or 52mm gauges instead. 45mm are hard to find. I found an Omori boost gauge in the correct colors and good old PSI units but still looking for some matching oil pressure and temp at the moment. I have a set of Prosport 52mm that will fit in the meantime. I know Defi made a single din gauge pack, which I could probably find in the right colors, but it's got 2 temp gauges and 1 pressure, all in metric units. I've given up on finding the factory gauge pack H5010AG000.
  2. Great, just spent hundreds on OEM center console & bezel parts and now I'll spend thousands on CF bits to replace it all lol
  3. The USDM Spec.B was never offered with an automatic. The 6 speed is different from the STI 6 speed, as it has slightly different gear ratios, an open front differential, and no DCCD. There are no modifications to the engine, that is the same as any turbo Legacy. As you know, Japan probably had many more options for the GT trim than we got here.
  4. You know I just saw that guy on ebay and I ordered just the top section from him, now I see he's got the whole thing as one piece which is nice, and LHD so it lines up correctly unlike the JDM one, and the Auto/Off and defrosters will be on the familiar side as well. The ebay item# is 153173478907. Ships from Russia, but I got mine in a week or so. Now I need to ask him if he can get the LHD Euro shifter surround and ashtray thingy in black to match.
  5. sounds like a turbine wheel hitting the housing. you probably need a new turbo.
  6. no, the HU comes as one piece, the buttons are not sold individually. best bet is the ol junk yard
  7. you may be able to take it out and clean the wiper contacts, but they are likely worn out. 72131AG24A might supersede it, as this is for the later models. Otherwise the whole HVAC unit is like $400 72110AG07B Confirm fitment with your local dealer, this stuff was for my 2008 dual, auto climate.
  8. most all subarus of this vintage use the same engine block, tuned differently, with different heads and turbos for various power levels. LGT and Spec.B have identical engines. If your car does not have a turbo, save yourself the time and money and headaches by just buying a car that has it already. Unless of course you want to do it as a (fun) project, go nuts.
  9. Ok always worth a shot to check the simple solution first. I have seen people install new radiator and get the caps mixed up and have the same symptoms. As far as I know, one cap is a 2 way, and the other a single way. I know Mishimoto puts this installation note in their instructions as well.
  10. I would check if you have the correct caps in the correct locations. The cap on the radiator is different than the reservoir cap above the turbo.
  11. Yeah, mine doesn't really light up anymore, the VFDs are probably shot. Worked great for all these years. I'll have to take it out and apart to see if replacement parts are available, or if it might need a bit of solder reflow. I don't think Lossol has signed into the forums in 6-7 years at this point. The p3 gauge I have in my new STI is pretty ok. I sent an email to them a while back asking about making one for the older legacy and they said buy the largest one they have and trim it to fit.
  12. search for the AVO JDM bezel. still available from japanparts.com and they pop up here on the for sale section from time to time. need some extra harnesses too, i88 or i85(for steering wheel controls)
  13. the rad caps should always be replaced, they are cheap enough OEM.

  15. going to be dealing with this soon. I had the same situation where my drivers side was blowing 180 degree air. not fun in the florida summer. taped them off for a few days and I guess hitting the right pot holes knocked the actuator arm back into a working position for now.
  16. Rockauto has reman "Powerstop" 4 pot front calipers, "L3698" & "L3699" for around $180 a piece, raw finish. or painted for about $200 "S3698"
  17. Not really worth selling if it's worn out OEM parts.
  18. Step 1 of all Subaru maintenance should be hose every bolt and fastener down with penetrating oil the day before you intend on working on it.
  19. Get this one because red is faster. https://www.blackhawkjapan.com/products/sti-sg117aj015-1
  20. That's what I have. They were about $120 each, NuGeon branded boxes. The castings are a little rough, but good enough for what they are, and price point. I don't intend on putting them on a show car. I'm sure the powder coating guy is used to FloridaMan bringing in crusty, greasy, old parts fresh from the pick-n-pull.
  21. Red or black, whatever brush on caliper paint the auto parts store has in stock. There's a local powder coater that will do them for like $150/set but I have to bring them disassembled and reasonably prepped.
